Hello,I have a multipart survey where, in Part 1, I ask people to divide 100 tasks between Part 2 and Part 3. I'm currently using a "Constant Sum" question:I'd like to add some Javascript code that would do the following:When a person clicks a bar, the other bar (e.g., the one not clicked) dynamically updates to the amount such that the total number of tasks between the two bars is 100. E.g., suppose a person clicked on the Part 2 bar at the value 57. Currently, this is what it shows:Instead, I'd like the Part 3 bar to update automatically to 43. Similarly, if I clicked on, say, 80 on the Part 3 bar, I'd like the Part 2 bar to update to 20. And so on.I know the following code captures the value of each bar (whenever someone clicks one of the two):However, the code is missing two crucial elements. First, while I know how to capture/record the value when a bar is clicked, I don't know how to set a particular bar value. Second, the current code can only register if a person clicked eithe
Hello,I am programming a "crossing-out-letter" task in Javascript. The participant is instructed to "cross out" certain instances of the letter 'e'. (For those curious: the participant must cross out all e's which are not right next to or two away from another vowel.). The participant clicks on the letter he or she wishes to cross out, and a blue slash appears. If the participant clicks the letter again, the slash disappears.I coded up a prototype of the task on JSFiddle, which you can find at https://jsfiddle.net/dzuckerman72/vfc0dtw2/302/. I'm using the HTML element. The prototype seems to be working properly. When I insert the code into a Qualtrics survey, however, a slight issue arises. To illustrate, I've provided a link to the relevant Qualtrics survey: https://stanforduniversity.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_5pwPvmBNtG65unP. If you click on several letters, you'll notice that sometimes (not always) the surrounding letters are slightly altered (they almost seem to be partially "white
Hello,I have a question that is quite related to this previous post. I have two slider questions on a single page. For each, I need to dynamically update and display two numbers, based on the slider's value. I've successfully programmed this for a single slider question. But I run into complications when there are two sliders. To give a little more detail: subjects click on a slider to divide tasks between two parts. Screenshot 1 and 2 below show how it's set up for a single slider.Screenshot 1: Before the slider has been clicked (I've programmed it so that it does not display a default value)Screenshot 2: After the slider has been clicked:Importantly, the numbers update as the slider is dragged left and right. Below is a screenshot of my Javascript code:So the way I trigger the change in display is via jQuery("input[type = hidden]").change.I run into issues when I have two slider questions on the same page, though. If I initially click one slider, the values for the other slider update
Hello,I am wondering if there is a way of reconfiguring the Likert Matrix question, such that each row statement appears on the right side of the page rather than the left. To give some more specifics: currently I have a question that looks something like this:For reasons I won't go into here, ideally I would like the positions of "Option 1" and "Option 2" flipped, such that the left option reads "Charity keeps $5" and the right option reads "You receive the money on the right, charity loses $5 with 1/3 chance." However, I do not know how to make the values of money ($0, $0.10, $0.20, etc.) appear on the right, rather than the left. I tried using a Bipolar Matrix, but Qualtrics squeezed the headings into a very narrow space, such that it made the headings very difficult to read:If anyone has any tips, I'd be very grateful. This isn't something that is absolutely essential, but would improve the survey experience for the respondent. Thanks,David
Hello,Is there any way to set the "Max value" of a slider equal to an Embedded Data value? I assume this would require some Javascript, but I'm not sure what the code would be.(To give more info: I am creating a survey which includes a slider question. I want to make the "Max value" of this slider equal to a previous answer in the survey. I figured I could just record the previous answer as embedded data, and use it to determine the slider's max value. However, there doesn't seem to be any easy way to do that.A hack-y way to get around my problem would be to create multiple sliders, one for each possible previous answer value, and then use display logic so respondents see the appropriate slider. However, there are 250 potential answers, and I'd rather not make 250 different sliders, if possible.) Thank you!
Hello! I am creating a survey that asks subjects to report their subjective probability as a percentage. Currently, the slider looks like this: ! Ideally, under the percentage grid values I would also like to show the fractional equivalent. Specifically, under "25 %" (but above the slider), I'd like the phrase "1 in 4" appear; under "50 %" I'd like the phrase "1 in 2" to appear, and under "75 %" I'd like the phrase "3 in 4" to appear. I used the following CSS code to add "%" symbols to the grid values: ul.numbers li::after { content:"%"; } But now that the additional content I want to add changes from value to value, I think I will need a different approach. Is there an easy way to loop through the list of percentages and add a different character string to each (and, additionally, have it show up below the percentage value, on a new line)? Thanks a lot.
