It seems to be up and down. I have has successful calls and failed calls on and off for the last couple of hours. Mostly on the urls provided by the NextPage parameter of the results.
You can not do this if your export is JSON or NDJSONIn the body of the API call, use the parameters:breakoutSets = False (comma separate in one column)useLabels = True (show text not values) Here are all the options:https://api.qualtrics.com/api-reference/b3A6NjEwMzk-start-response-export
Regarding retry functionality, initially, I just had a loop in python with a sleep function until it was successful. I did have some code to avoid an infinite loop.However, I have moved to using the retry function in the tenacity package. It is very flexible. https://pypi.org/project/tenacity/Hope that helps.
SOLVED! Qualtrics support got back to me with this statement..."The DEC_8 error often occurs when the From Domain (in this case, "@mydomain.co") has not been verified for the brand. Custom From Addresses can only be used if they have been added to the brand according to the instructions found on this page. " I was using an email that was not part of the brand for testing.
I think I finally figured it out! Part of the issue was working with data sets with many fields which made it difficult to see what was really happening. Basically, you have to specify all 3 field types in the data.{embeddedDataIds: [],surveyMetadataIds:[],questionIds:[]}If the parameter is not specified it will return all fields of that type.So, if you want an export of only the ResponseId, RecordedDate and an embeddedField:data = {"embeddedDataIds":["emb_field"],"surveyMetadataIds":['"_recordId","recordedDate"],"questionIds:[]}
The survey owner may need to collaborate the survey with you. Or if they have, then the permissions are documented here (it was the first place I found it):Collaborating on Projects | It seems like View Reports might have the permission that you need. I have not had time to verify this.Also, I have had issues in the past with Qualtrics not allowing my API key access to surveys that have been explicitly collaborated with me. In the case of a survey that was no yet published, making a new copy fixed it. We had to enlist the help of Qualtrics Support, and that was their recommendation.Good Luck!
