I usually rename all the questions in our surveys so they work with our stata code for common questions. So instead of having Q1 I will have Age, etc. When I copy these questions (or blocks of question) to a library so I can use them again in a different survey all the questions revert to Q1, Q2, etc. How do I keep the the tags so I don't have to rename everything again? When importing questions or blocks from a library there used to be an option to keep question tags, but I no longer see it. What I need is a way for this to work in both directions - when copying from survey to library and when importing from library to survey.Any suggestions?
Is there a way to format a text entry question so it looks like a form for entering month and year of birth? My respondents have a wide age range. Flatpicker involves too many clicks. I want it to look like a form - like this: _ _ / _ _ _ _ And I also want it to validate the format so there are no missing values and that dates are within the past 80 years. How do I do this?
I can't figure out how to get the variable names set for Checkbox questions. I have set the variable names like in the image below. But when the data is downloaded I get RACE_1 with the label "ethwhite." Is there a way to get the variables to actually have the names set for them (what I have circled in the image below).
For my project I need to figure out what percent of survey questions were answered, taking into account skips and branching. My understanding of the progress calculator is that it only tells me how far along a respondent is in the survey - that is, how much of the survey they saw - not how much they completed. Figuring out what percent of the survey was completed is necessary, because I need to filter out respondents who basically go through the survey pages but skip all or most of the questions. Their survey will be counted as "complete," but their responses are not useful. Any suggestion about how to go about figuring this out would be helpful. Thank you.
In the survey design stage, is it possible to move questions from one block to another? If I created a question in one block and then realize it would fit better in another block, how do I move it? It doesn't seem possible in the survey flow. Thank you.
Is there an efficient way to write display logic that does NOT require specifying every single combination of the options? For example with the selection tools on the display logic the only way I can figure out how to state the following: Q1=0 AND (Q2=1 OR Q3=1) is to state it this way (Q1=0 AND Q2=1) OR (Q1=0 AND Q3=1) OR (Q1=0 AND Q2=1 AND Q3=1) Is there something I am missing? Because this is a simple case, and when there are nested logic conditions I can't figure out how to do this efficiently. Thanks.
Is there a way to have rows in a matrix table appear based on responses to previous questions? In my survey I ask people how many people they have. Like this: ! Then I want to ask about the ages of the children in a table like this: ! But I want the number of rows in the table to correspond to the number of children the respondent said they had. So for example, if they said they had two children there would only be rows for child 1 and child 2. Is there a way to do this? I would be interested in a similar solution for check all that apply questions, where the options displayed can be displayed based on responses to other questions. Thanks.
I am trying to pipe in questions from embedded data. First I declared the fields in the survey flow. These values depend on survey response. Specifically I want to use "spouse" for married people and "significant other" for partnered people: ! Now I want to pipe in the correct relationship designation into another question like this: ! However when I preview the survey this doesn't seem to work. Nothing gets piped in. What am I doing wrong?
I want to use the side by side question to run through a roster of children in a family. For each child I want to collect the name, date of birth in the format of MM/YYYY and gender. Here are my questions: 1. How do I configure one of the columns to be a date entry field? Currently I have it set up as a drop down for months and then another for years, but this is not particularly elegant. The content validation on a text field doesn't seem to be doing anything or helping with the display for text field as a date entry field. I understand that I may need to use JavaScript for this, but where exactly does it go so it is specific to that column only? 2. How do I get rid of the "Answer 1" in the column for entry of the name? I can't figure this out. If I delete the answer you can't enter data. Image of what I have now: !
