Form question - field - restrict character limit

You could add custom validation that checks the postal code field for matching a regex string. That should do what you need without needing to use js. If that field is not required, just set the validation to is blank OR matches your regex string. There are regex strings that will allow you to match a variety of patterns, including exactly 10 chars (letters and numbers), 0-10 chars, 5-4 numbers only, 5 OR 5-4 only, etc. If you're not familiar with regular expressions, you can use a regular expression generator like https://regexr.com/ to help you build the string.

Incomplete Responses

That depends on how you're distributing the survey. If you're using a method that only allows one response per person, then the respondent will not be able to start a new response after the previous one has been recorded. If you're using a method that allows multiple responses, then the respondent will be able to submit an entirely new response and both responses will remain in your dataset. If you want to give the person a chance to edit/complete their original partial response, you can send them a retake link and either replace or retain the original response.

Capitalize all letters in the text-box

TomG Your code works beautifully for text entry and form field questions. However, I have a situation where I only need one field of a multi-field Form Fields question type to be capitalized. I've been trying to figure out how to modify your code to apply to only to that one specific field, but haven't been successful. Would you mind providing an example of how that would be done? In my case, the field I'm trying to reference is ${q://QID5/ChoiceTextEntryValue/3} and I'm applying the js to the question itself.I've been able to solve the problem by using an embedded data placeholder and the below js applied to a later question, but your approach is much more elegant and I would like to learn how to apply it to this particular situation. Matrix Question Statement Width

Bizarre error message popping up for some participants

Same issue! We also use the SSO authenticator for many of our survey and we also occasionally get reports of these errors and have had difficulty figuring out what's causing them. I just had a user report the problem on a survey that has low current usage, so I was able to clear out all in progress responses before she tried again. She tried from a different browser on the same computer and received the same error. Afterwards, there was a single new in progress response with no info other than her IP Address, start and stop time, and 0% progress. She never made it to the SSO screen so something went wrong prior to that redirect.I suspected a cookie issue, which is why I asked her to try from another browser. After reading brianj 's post, I did a little testing with the latest versions of Safari, Chrome, and Firefox on Mac OS X Catalina. I was able to replicate the error message, but only on Firefox and only if I first blocked ALL cookies and then switched the setting to blocking third-

Preventing a user to take the survey more than once using an authenticator (SSO)?

This is easy to do using Associate Respondent with Panel. You create a contact list containing the email addresses of all the students who are eligible to complete the survey. You'll have to use the same email address that they use for SSO, so if your university uses userID@abc.edu for SSO but first.last@abc.edu for email, you'll have to populate the contact list with the userID@abc.edu form of their email address. Once you have the list created, check the Associate Respondent with Panel box in the authenticator and select your contact list. Now when a user signs in with SSO, Qualtrics will (a) check to make sure the student is on the list and (b) that the student hasn't already taken the survey. If the answer to both is yes, then the student progresses to the survey. If the student isn't on the list or has already responded, then they'll be rerouted to an error message that you can customize (look under authenticator options).

How to get footer text to display below the next page button?

Thanks @bstrahin! It hadn't occurred to me that it would be theme dependent. The footer is appearing the nav button on all our university themes, but below the button on all the Qualtrics themes. That discovery gives us a workaround while I contact Qualtrics about our theme design. Much appreciated!

Best Practices For Question Numbering

Most of our surveys are independent entities, but like @KatC we use some standardized block names (e.g. Intro, Consent, Closing, etc.) for content that needs to be included in every survey, and like @AnthonyR, we also use descriptive variable names for each question and consistent numbering for common answer options (Likert scales, yes/no/maybe, etc.) to make data analysis easier and more intuitive.

I shared the survey with another person and gave them all permissions, but they can't edit it.

Have you tried removing and re-adding the problematic user in the sharing pane? Also, is the user able to edit surveys shared with him/her by other people? Can you try sharing the survey with another account and see if that user is able to edit it? These steps would help you narrow the problem down to the user vs the survey.
