Hello community, On our surveys, we use sliders, and they are all configured to have no default value or custom start position. Upon initial page load, the handle is at the far left, where zero is, even though technically no value is selected (you can submit and it will correctly complain that you have to pick an answer first). Visually, this looks like zero is selected by default, however, and it also makes it hard for the participant to actually pick zero from the outset. Ideally, it would be great to have the handle hidden on initial page load, so the impression to the user is more accurate in that it would show no value is selected. It would also provide an much easier experience since the user could pick zero without having to manipulate the slider first. Hopefully this makes sense. I would think this could be accomplished through JavaScript or CSS...I just am not familiar with the element IDs I would have to manipulate. Thanks in advance for any insight!
Hello Community, I'm having a hard time doing what I think should be rather simple. I have figured out how to create a bucketing variable for my percentiles, and now I simply want to generate bar graphs to show these calculated percentiles on a per-respondent basis. I've already been told that data analysis is meant to approach things from an aggregate rather than individual reporting level. I can get around this by using filters; however, the capabilities of even a simple bar graph appear quite limiting (unless I'm just in the wrong place). Here is an example of me trying to just show the percentile on a scale of 1-9. The bar represents the percentile in which this person's response fell. First off, I can't seem to make it so that gridlines appear for each Y-axis item. I also cannot seem to add a label to either axis (for example "Percentile" along the Y-axis). I have a reporting requirement I need to fulfill, and I'm reaching out to see if my proposed approach is the best and most efficient one in the Qualtrics platform. 1) For a particular subset of item responses (let's say items 1-10), I need to pull and show the information for the item that had the overall lowest response from the participant, and the one that had the highest. So, ideally I'd be able to show the question text and participant's response. The best thing I can think of would be to create yet another embedded data field (or custom field in data & analytics) that would contain the lowest and highest value. While that works fine for the value, I'd still need to preserve (or somehow get to) the text of that particular item so that I can display it in my report. Perhaps this can actually be done by generating a report in the Reports tab. I'm not sure how to do it as of right now. 2) To build upon the challenge of (1), I also have the requirement of showing t
I have recently started using the bucketing variables for my percentile-based calculations. I have the need to create some that will encompass 99 percentiles (99 buckets). This will obviously take me a while to create over and over. It's a long shot, but does anyone know of a faster way (CSV upload, API call, other?) that can be used to create these variables? I need to create almost 30 separate variables, each with 99 percentile ranges...I'm hoping to not have to do it by hand, if possible. Any thoughts are much appreciated. Thanks.
Hello, I'm attempting to create a bucketing custom variable to store percentile ranges that will cover 1-99 percentile ranges for an embedded data field I have. Example, variable values between 0-1.25 fall within percentile 1, 1.50-2.25 fall within percentile 2, and so forth. The problem I am seeing is the bucketing type will only let you define ranges that are limited by the data you already have recorded. Although I may not have data that falls within the range 0-1.25 recorded just yet, I still want to define all the percentile ranges up front so that if/when that does happen, I can determine the correct percentile. How can I override this on the bucketing variable creation screen, so that I can define my 1-99 percentiles now, in anticipation of future data I will collect? Thanks in advance, Chris
I started playing around in the "Reports" section today, and I like a lot of the analytics "widgets" that are available in the default report. I see how to use these to create custom reports. I'd like to know how to adapt these to show responses on a per-user basis...for example, the following is a standard table that shows some good information: ! What would be great is if I could generate this report for user with the email address = (something) and have this table also report that participant's response to this question. I see how the filtering can be accomplished with a filter, but when I do this it just interprets that users response as the entire user population (1), and all the cells just become that user's response, because it's not comparing it vs. the responses collectively. Ideally, a personalized report would show a person's response against the collective calculations for the entire population, so he/she could see how their response compares. This should be a very simple question to answer. For a particular question or variable, how do I add the participants percentile to a report? For example, I responded 5.0 on a scale of 0-10 for this item, I fall within the X percentile of respondents to this question. Thank you.
Hello, I have been using JavaScript and jQuery to customize various elements of my survey thanks to a lot of the tips I have found here in the community. I was wondering if anyone has successfully used JS to re-code slider responses? I have a need to invert a submitted question response so that what gets entered into the database is different than what the user has picked (e.g. a response of 8 would actually be recorded as a 2). Has anyone managed to do this on a per-question basis? If so, any tips would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Hello, originally we were using the "Classic" layout on our survey but we recently updated to use the "Flat" style with "Mountain Valleys" theme. I'm not sure any of that matters, but after the change it seems the "auto-saving" feature of the survey is broken when taking the survey from a mobile device. Specifically, an Android (although I have yet to test on an iPhone). Taking the survey from a laptop still seems to work as usual in terms of auto-save. This is a survey comprised of slider elements for responses. Has anyone noticed this behavior on mobile? Prior to this change, it worked fine on my Android, and I could come back and resume right where I left off with my answers saved... Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!
Hello Qualtrics community, In an effort to improve the slider questions on our survey, I'd be interested in accomplishing the following. If a user responds to a few slider items on our survey and then returns later to complete the page, I'd like to be able to re-display the previously selected values. The sliders do refresh to where the user had previously picked, but the actual numeric values no longer show above, as they do when taking the survey the first time. Is there a way to "refresh" during the JS OnLoad to show these values when the user returns? Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide! Initial example: ! Hello, we recently upgraded from the free license to a paid version. My impression of "survey flow" was that once more than one survey could be activated (in the paid version), survey flow would allow us to string together multiple surveys into a single experience. One example of this would be having one survey that is an informed consent form, and then another survey containing the actual questions. I was anticipating survey flow would allow me to order these and have informed consent appear, and once agreed to, the user would be taken to the actual survey. This doesn't appear to be how survey flow works, since I cannot access any of my other surveys when adding steps there. What's the best practice when attempting to do something simple like this (informed consent, followed by a survey)? As far as I can tell, you can't build informed consent directly into a survey itself. Thanks in advance for your comments.
onLoad is working great with jQuery to hide unwanted elements for customization. For instance, I'm hiding the question text as well as all the slider numbers. I have noticed, however, that there is a slight delay in which you can see all the elements that are eventually hidden in onLoad. I know the reason is because onLoad is not executed until the page is loaded, but this does provide a flash of the ultimately hidden areas to the user when loading the survey. Is there a way to "beat" onLoad to the punch by essentially hiding these elements earlier in the process? I think css would work, but i'm not entirely sure what the page IDs are for the slider numeric labels and the question text, etc. -- or where to really put that.
