Help with replacing comma with newline in an embedded data field

I was trying to include the Javascript on the same page -- I so rarely do this I forgot about that requirement. It would not be easy to do this before that page, I'd have to insert a "fake" page then just to allow this. I reached out to the customer and he is okay with blank spaces in the display so I just have display logic for each item 6-20 to only display if they are populated. It isn't as "clean" as I would like it but this is much more Javascript code than I have experience with -- I don't feel this is worth all the testing. I appreciate all your replies in helping me try to get this working!

I tried the but the PSReformList embedded data did not display anything in my survey question.Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.addOnload(function(){var pipedText = "${e://Field/PSItemList}";pipedList = pipedText.replace(/,/g, '');Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.setEmbeddedData("PSReformList",pipedList);});I would be willing to try the tag but then does that mean I don't need to do the replace?

It's within a text question as the person is completing the survey, just a confirmation for them to double-check they entered the unit cost and unit prices they were expecting. Instead of a long list across, I'd like it to display down. ${e://Field/PSItemList} -OR-${e://Field/PSReformList}

Looping Over Multiple Blocks with Branches

LauraTem did you ever get a copy of the survey? If I click on the Preview Survey links, it says Sorry, unavailable. I am trying to set up a similar type of looping (though I know only 4 times through) and am curious if/how you accomplished this in the survey flow. Thanks!

ngc1997 I would recommend you check with Qualtrics Support on your question. From my side, I still see some contacts with the business phone set, and others where it is not.

Sometimes you can also get your data to reindex by adding an embedded data field in the survey flow, saving it, publishing the survey and then going back to "Data & Analysis". (You can always go back and remove the embedded data field and republish).

Is there a way to set an embedded data field to the Survey Send Date?

I finally figured out the answer to my own question with some javascript I added to the survey to calculate last week Monday. It is not pretty but it works. (I did have to add a page break in for the variable to display correctly in my survey, thanks to another post that I found that tip)

Distributing to a specific sub-group of a contact list

What if the initial sign-up survey includes an embedded data field like "FollowUpSurveySent" equal to N. Your second survey would make sure FollowUpSurveySent=N before you display the questions. After they complete the 2nd survey, you set that embedded data field to Y. If you have XM directory you could set up an automation to do this pretty easily (even setting the recipients to filter via the embedded data). The only limitation with this would be if someone did not complete the survey, you would not have changed the embedded data field.

Pre-select multiple choice options based on embedded data

I found I was able to get my code to work, as long as the attribute was coded Level Number 1, 2, 5, 6 rather than Level Number 1,2,5,6 (needs the spaces after the comma).

An "easy" way to use the same survey for different embedded data fields

@AdamK12 if there is a way to use the survey Flow to substitute each iteration of student names for a "generic" first name and last name, I'm all for it. I'm just not sure how to structure it so the employer receives the correct number of evaluations for the students they employ (ie one employer might only have 1 student, but another has 3).

Course Evaluations and Goal of 1 Contact List/Email Template for all Courses

@Akdashboard I would like to do something similar with students and a mock interview evaluation form our business partner fills out. I set up my XM directory similar to your Course1, Course2, Course3 but instead the Business partner has Student1, Student2, etc. My question is, does your student fill out ALL course evaluations in one survey? Ideally I would like to send separate surveys to the Business partner for EACH student (since they may be scheduling the interviews on different dates) but in order to use the embedded data I created separate surveys, one for Student1, one for Student2, etc. I'm curious if you have an easier way!

@Mishraji thank you that was perfect. I was trying to put the full path name (including "My Drive") in the file location field rather than JUST the subdirectory name. I made the changes you suggested and it worked! Thanks so much!

Thanks for the suggestion @Mishraji -- I do have an embedded data field set to the previous Monday but have to manually update it each time. Was hoping I could avoid that!

I guess I understand the email part....what I'm not sure is how I can use display logic to fill in the student name in the survey. If I send the survey out and intend it to be "StudentName1" but then the second time I send it and want "StudentName2" -- I don't know how to adjust this on the fly? !

Help I can't export data into a CSV file correctly

Do you have special characters in your data? There is a note on the export in data & analysis: This is a .csv file that can be imported into other programs. Each value in the response is separated by a comma and each response is separated by a newline character. If your responses contain special characters and you will open this export in Microsoft Excel we recommend using the TSV export. Qualtrics CSV exports use UTF-8 encoding, which Excel will not open correctly by default.
