Set (to empty) embedded data in directory from Java code

Hi XM Community, I would need support to set up a workflow that allows me to delete all values of a field (embedded data) in the directory. Qualtrics technical support suggested to use the "Code" task, which allows to run a custom code. Has anyone developed or is able to write Java code that performs this activity? The goal is for the workflow to "empty" the expected column, leaving all values blank.  I hope someone can help me and the post will also help other users who will be in my scenario.Andrea

Qualtrics Embeded Data

I made a copy of my old survey; and I had like 50+ embeded data; Now in the new survey I forgot to change the source of contacts while creating embeded data.But my distrbution and autenticator were all of new data set; Will Qualtrics still be taking Embeded data from the old data set.

Adding new XM directory contact from survey

Did you ever imagine a way to input new contact data from a survey ? My use case : Imagine an employee Exit survey (EX Lifecycle)HR system are not always updated in real time and you should want a living employee to complete his exit survey within his/her last week on his/her position instead of 3-4 weeks later.I’d like to set up a survey for the manager to input living employee information and triggering the exit survey just in time. I’m pretty sure there are a lot of similar situations in CX platform too. If you find a way to do that, I’d like to know it.And if you have similar applications, please share your use cases.

Opt out versus remove from mailing list

What is the best practice for this situation? We are a B2B provider so we have high value contacts and deep relationships. We do an annual relationship survey every year and often times we have people who complete the survey every year. From our boucebacks, we have determined many people who have left the company. Should I mark these as an opt-out even though it is not a customer requested opt out? I want to keep our directory as clean as possible and avoid getting them included in future surveys.

Reminder emails for survey distributed by email and one-way SMS text

Hello community,  I am currently running a survey that is being distributed to the same distribution list by email and by one-way SMS text. I have multiple reminder emails scheduled for unfinished respondents. However, when a respondent completes the survey via SMS text, they are still receiving reminder emails. I realized that the SMS text distribution list does not seem to be “speaking to” the email distribution list. Does anyone have a solution to this to avoid sending reminder emails to those who have already completed the survey via SMS text? Thanks!

adding existing topics for text comments

Regarding adding topics to the text comments in text IQ feature, i know we can search and build query and create topics to which we want to tag them. but if we have already built the topics from before - how we add the new comments to those topics? - when we dont wish toc reate new, rather add multiple comemtns from our search to previous topics. if this is not possible - how can we build this to automate tagging in future?

Contact list with data not in English

Hi, I’m trying to create a distribution list that some of the information in it is not in English. For example I have the first name in English, but also separately the first name in local language, this goes to some more data that I need to use in the invite email. When uploading it, all the places that are not in English are looked like ????? and not using the characters of the local language (Ukrainian in specific).  Any one knows how I resolve this issue?

Opting out multiple contacts from a list

I have have deployed 4 surveys for a client and they provided the contact list for each survey. They indicated they had deduped the lists against each other, but I am now realizing they did not. Subsequently some people are receiving multiple surveys when ideally they should only receive one. I did some analysis on the overlap and identified ~850 people who are receiving multiple surveys. It is not feasible to opt them out individually and was wondering if there was a way to do a large scale opt out. In the precursor to Directory XM you could export a list, make updates to it and reimport it after the updates were made. I have been searching around in the community and on the support page to see if there is a way to do this and am coming up empty.I uploaded a separate list for each survey so the are 4 lists I would need to update. Thanks in advance for any advice.Anne

Every time a new entry is added to the contact list, a blank entry is also generated.

The "update existing list members" checkbox is not selected, and the survey is accessible to the public through an anonymous link. Is there a method for Qualtrics to prevent generating a blank record every time a new entry is included in the contact list? I have attached a screenshot for reference.

"Code" in workflow for variable manipulation without creation in survey flow

1. We have a multiple-choice question with 5 options. If someone selects the 2nd or3rd option, it will be coded as -Yes-. If the selected option is not 2 or 3, it will berecorded as -No-. And it all should be done by “Code” which is available in work flow.2. We are implementing this to ensure that we can retrieve this in dashboard data view.

How to use transaction date on dashboard?

We distribute surveys following business transactions using ‘transaction date’ in ISO-8601 format as required by XMD 'Transactions' specifications. This date is accurately picked up during distribution, however, it appears blank in data & analysis tab as well as on dashboard. We need to do reporting based on transaction date. Can anyone please help?

When redirecting a survey to another this is the message that is automatically set up: “Please wait while you are redirected.” However, how can I edit this text or add translations to this piece of text?

How do I include embedded data in an XM Directory?

I’m fairly new to Qualtrics and am trying out embedded fields. I would like to include embedded data in an XM Directory I created from a survey, but each time I try to add that (specifically, the City), the embedded data does not populate to the directory. Does anyone have any troubleshooting tips here? I am certain that I am missing some step, but I don’t know which one. I have followed the directions outlined in the attached picture to add a field to the XM Directory. Thank you for any help!!

Automation - Distribution - Email From Name

Hi,I have setup the following Automation:first a contact import from a file on the Qualtrics File Service Then a linked email Distribution automation.The automation as such is running fine,but I would like to use a variable in the From name.As the From name, I would like to use our Brand name, plus as a variale the Country,so e.g. From “Qualtrics Belgium” or From “Qualtrics France”, depending on the metadata value of the country of the respondent that this distribution is sent to.I have tried using ${e://Field/Country}  and ${m://Country} as variables for the country field, but this did not seem to work.Is it possible to use variables within an Automatin in the From name, and how should it then be done exactly?Thank you,

Workflow - Directory Status (Opt-Out) Please Help 🙏

Hi EveryoneVia survey workflow, I can successfully add a respondent to an XM directory. ✅I can also unsubscribe them; ✅But doing this, only unsubscribes them from the contact list in question.How do I unsubscribe them from the directory? I assume if they’ve opted-out from a contact list like the above, they could still receive correspondence as they remain opted-in to the directory?If someone presses unsubscribe from an email invite, do they unsubscribe from the contact or the directory?As always, thanks for your help!

Skip logic

I have got a survey live to participants and they are participating every minute. I want to make a slight change at the end of my survey by adding a skip logic to a block. Does that delete any existing data from participants who took part already?

Workflow to Opt-out

Hi all, I have a survey to send to a panel where I have multiple email addresses for some members of the panel, and I’m not sure which email address is more effective.  If I send an email to Ryan at both r@gmail.com and y@gmail.com, and they respond to r@gmail.com, is there a way that I can use the Workflow XM Directory task to opt-out the contact with r@gmail.com from the list?Assume that each panel row has the other email as embedded data. I know I can find the correct contact, but I’m not sure I can edit the opt-out status via the XM Directory task. Alternatively, there another workaround that I’m missing?Thanks!

Error: Unable to connect to SFTP server for automations

I’ve been through all of the possible resolutions and I’m still not able to fix this problem. My directory automations were working fine until we changed Tech Directors in May and our SFTP host wiped all of his data. Our tech team was able to get in and add our files. We updated the password in Qualtrics automations, but nothing has fixed the error. I don’t understand the message saying “unable to connect” when all of our other automations are working fine now using the same host.Has anyone had similar issues that can help? Any other tips?

Email Duplicates Confirmation Help :)

Hi EveryoneI hope you can help.I have a contact list that has been sent a survey.I now have a new contact list and it’s possible this list will have duplicates from the original list.Am I right in thinking, when I send the same survey to the new list, Qualtrics will automatically skip any duplicate emails that have already been sent the same survey?Thanks :)

XM Directory Task - record initial response in directory

Hi folks! I am creating a survey with a workflow XM Directory task. The idea is that once the respondent takes the survey for the first time, their information is added to a contact list. This survey is for feedback for an in-person service. People will be asked to scan a QR code and fill out the survey each time they visit the service. I want to be able to track their responses each time, and see how many times they have filled out the service, as there are limits to how many times they can access it. Hence, why I wanted them added to a contact list. But, I won’t be sending them personalized links, they will always be scanning this anonymous QR code. I was able to set up an authenticator, so that if they select the option “I have visited the service before” in the first question in the survey, they are asked to input their email/ID number and this then connects their response to their contact ID (rather than using a personalized link). This seems to work just fine. However, the issue
