Would a webservice and variables not suffice? you could use the webservice to pick 5 (even based on least filled) and then pipe the embedded variable into the survey. This would also help to create a record in case a participant entered a wrong or incomplete code.
I'm beginning to notice this happening not just in the survey flow but in the quotas as well. I can be making/editing quotas and out of nowhere - BAM! Logged out and everything erased.
! As an edo you could just use ${e://Field/variable} to get the value of the variable for the answer option.

So use the JavaScript below for any question you don't want real respondents to answer, but you want bots to answer. Here is how you would set this up: you have Q1,Q2,Q3,Q4 and you only want to show Q1 &Q3 to one group and Q2 & Q4 to the other. Assign a respondent to either variable group1 or variable group2 making sure even present is on before the block. ! Then in the question blocks you can add display logic to each question based on the group1 or group2 variable !
I don't believe this can be done in validation alone. You would need to either create some branch logic after the question in the survey flow and then repeat it OR you could use some custom code. This question might be better answered if posted in the Custom Code category.

We had a matrix that was doing this. Adding this to the html fixed it. We figured it was the padding added from our theme. IDK if it will be helpful to anyone else. <style> .Skin .QuestionOuter.Matrix{ max-width: 100%; } </style>
Unless I am oversimplifying your question, this can be done by using a branch and embedded data field in the survey flow. Branch states question answers (e.g. Q1 A is selected OR Q3 B is selected) then embedded data field is "dummy1" = 1. then create a branch and em data set for dummy2

The simplest I can think of without adding any code, is to do an embedded data in the survey flow with a counter. Then you can add the display logic to the question - "if counter/=block6"
For something like this, I think it might be easier to use the survey flow over the editor. So instead of using skip logic, you can use branches to qualify for embedded data variables. Such as : [branch] if answer to gender =0 AND if answer to age question is = 6 AND if bmi is greater than 17 then em (Qualify) = 1.
You could just set this up with a Randomizer for each type, then create an embedded data counter for the 18 questions. Have the randomizer only select 3 of the 18 with evenly present. Then you could add branch logic or display logic to the questions if needed.
Instead of using the Qualtrics default NPS use a matrix then you can just add the color html to the rich editor.
my thoughts: set a variable (eb_reviewer = null) Randomizer with Evenly Present turned on 10 variables listed in the randomizer as so - 1. eb_reviewer = shannon 2. eb_reviewer = fred etc... that way each application only gets assigned to one reviewer and you can use the variable as a qualifier to send to the reviewer. Also, the evenly present would ensure that one reviewer wouldn't get a majority of applications.

There certainly is. You can continue to add questions into the block before or after the Likert question. Adding the custom validation will ensure they either select from the Likert scale or "Don't Know". However, me personally would add some additional instructions to the question text, like so..."Question Text. (if you are unsure or this question does not apply to you, please select "Don't Know" or "Not Applicable") - Custom validation will throw an error message if they try to skip over the questions.
@ForrestW - 1. I used the Qualtrics Net Promoter question as just an example, but you can add the words as labels if desired. (*Note: the reason I think your numbers are sitting so high is because of the words (Don't Know/Not Applicable)) 2. and yes by custom certification I do mean validation. Basically they either select an answer in the scale OR they select "Don't know" OR they select "Not Applicable" to continue. (*Note: this validation is added to the second question and the "Next" button is removed for the first question) LMK if you need any clarification.
Instead of adding the string to each block, maybe you could add a hidden block that displays their selected choices and then use display logic like so... !
you could also just add a question, hiding the question text, and add the custom certification so it accepts an answer in either question like so... !
