Badge of the Month | October 2022

Question: What was your favorite spooky movie or TV show to watch in 2022? Alternatively, what was your favorite spooky book that you read in 2022?
It’s officially spooky season! Do you love a good scare in the fall? Or, do you avoid all things scary? One of our favorite ways to celebrate Halloween and spooky season is to watch frightening movies and read scary books. We want to know about your favorite spooky books, movies, and TV shows, (even if they aren’t that frightening) from this year. Tell us all about your fall favorites so we can watch / read them and dive into the season!

I'm not a big fan of horror movie, but due to peer pressure we've seen this movie in the cinema. I work 4am shift and I had a hard time going to the office due to this reason. Never again will I watch horror movie that would torment me for life. ha ha ha

I'm a big fan of paranormal/ghost shows! 👻 This year I've been especially into Ghost Brothers on Discovery+. There's also a reality show called We Bought a Funeral Home, which chronicles a family renovating their Victorian-era funeral home into a family home. ⚰️

🎃🖤🎃🖤🎃 LOVE HALLOWEEN SEASON!!! 🎃🖤🎃🖤🎃
Been watching horror/Sci Fi all month long. Beetlejuice, Pumpkin head, Ghostbusters, Trick 'r Treat and of course Halloween (the original) are all classic for this time of year.
We are big Nightmare Before Christmas fans at our house and even got to visit Disneyland this year to check out the Haunted Mansion with a NBC takeover.
Here's a shot from in line...before getting on the ride :)

https://community.qualtrics.com/XMcommunity/discussion/comment/51196#Comment_51196Silence of the Lambs is such an incredible movie! Sometimes what you don't see, and what you are left thinking about, is infinitely more terrifying than what you see. I think the movie leah_moore mentioned, The Others, is a lot like that!

This may be too much of a view into my psyche, but I get more scared of psychological thrillers than I do at horror movies. (Horror movies make me giggle!) Recently, I rewatched the entirety of Stranger Things (all seasons) and the first season was probably the scariest because of the unknown aspects of the Upside Down and what was happening to Will. But now that we know who the monsters are, it's less scary but no less entertaining!
To this day, I remember being most scared during the climactic scene in Silence of the Lambs where Starling is searching in the pitch black West Virginia basement for the killer. So well done.

I'm not a horror movie fan at all but have been roped into watching far more scary movies than I would've liked over the years (peer pressure is real)!
I don't have a favourite but from my experience, things are 25% les scary when you can watch it with a friend and laugh when something "scary" comes up that was actually kind of silly😂

https://community.qualtrics.com/XMcommunity/discussion/comment/51099#Comment_51099I just watched it and really enjoyed it! It takes place ten minutes from where I grew up :)

Always going to be a classic bit of Shaun Of The Dead for me.
Sometimes in life it is good to just go have a pint and wait for all of this to blow over 😅!

https://community.qualtrics.com/XMcommunity/discussion/comment/50976#Comment_50976I had a similar experience! Saw Alien way too young 😂 It's been so nice to have you on the Community Connect calls!

https://community.qualtrics.com/XMcommunity/discussion/comment/51099#Comment_51099I'm almost done -- only two episodes to go! I stopped because another season of Unsolved Mysteries came out on Netflix and I had to binge those, first 🤯

https://community.qualtrics.com/XMcommunity/discussion/comment/51097#Comment_51097Same! I have to watch all the Charlie Brown holiday specials every year -- no matter how old I get. It's tradition! 🎃

https://community.qualtrics.com/XMcommunity/discussion/comment/51095#Comment_51095I think I would better have done the same with Game of Throne...

My partner and I just finished Netflix's The Watcher. It's a 7 episode series, based on real events, that tells a story of terror and paranoia.
A New York City couple moves from the city seeking safety in the suburbs, only to start receiving mysterious letters from an an unknown party identifying only as "The Watcher."
The show does an excellent job of casting suspicion on all of the characters and is super bindge-worthy!

I abhor horror, but love Halloween content tailored for children. (A Nightmare Before Christmas, Hocus Pocus, It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown)

https://community.qualtrics.com/XMcommunity/discussion/comment/51053#Comment_51053Yep! That's it -- young wines are typically released around St. Martin's Day. I could be wrong, but I think it's in Germany and to the east where young wines are brought out at St. Martin's Day. But why wait? Any day of the year could be an excuse for a glass of wine 🍷

https://community.qualtrics.com/XMcommunity/discussion/comment/50733#Comment_50733Spot on Michael_Cooksey! Although St. Maarten is not considered a particular opportunity to enjoy a nice glas of wine 🍷 in the Netherlands, I do recall the Beaujolais Nouveau 🍇coming out around this time of year when I lived in Marseille and quickly discovering it was not my cup of tea☕️

I love this season and designing my own costumes. I'm not a fan of the horror theme, however sometimes you get caught in the flow and this month I started the Spanish serie Alma, it has given me some scares, but I am enjoying it

https://community.qualtrics.com/XMcommunity/discussion/comment/50976#Comment_50976My mom was a teacher and had a "conference" with her teacher collogues where they would watch a movie and then discuss it afterwards.
I was away from school that day and tagged along. I was 10 years old. The movie was Carrie.
I still remember the jump scare when the hand comes out of the grave at the end. Jeez :D

https://community.qualtrics.com/XMcommunity/discussion/comment/50980#Comment_50980I once tried to read this book while home alone and I had to sit outside while reading (where I could be seen and found, in case anything spooky happened) 😂

I love any book by Agatha Christie for spooky season 🙂 Some are especially good for right now like And Then There Where None.
I have a toddler at home so I don't watch too much that's spooky currently. We are more into collecting leaves and enjoying fall weather.
