@TomG The list of existing IDs is sitting in the project’s database...but does that need to be moved (automatically or manually) somewhere else to exist as the reference list for the webservice call, or could it be checked in-place somehow?
In my experience with these situations, you need to send them the survey via a new distribution. Depending on how many cases you’re talking about, you could send it via either a) an individual distribution just for that one person, b) a group distribution sent to a contacts sample you have defined to identify anyone who needs a new link, or c) a group distribution using an entirely new contact list you build based on who needs a new link.
I've had similar issues before, and just talked with a helpful rep from support. She said that this can happen from time to time, especially at busy points like right after the launch of a large survey. In more minor cases, an account refresh might take care of it, but in my case, we had to do a forced index. You can initiate this yourself by going to Data & Analysis --> Tools --> Create New Field. You can call it "Test". Once this column is added, it should start a full re-index of existing data. There's no need to add any values under the Test field. It took about 5 minutes, but the issue was resolved thereafter. You can then delete the Test field if you want.Hope this helps

Maybe others would have ideas for how to do this within QTX? Otherwise I'd do that step in "post" (e.g., using the RANK formula in Excel).
It does show the response summary (which has a download pdf link), but I think you're right that not recording responses is getting in the way of the email action.I just chatted with support about what "response created" and "response updated" really mean. "Response created" means the participant opened and completed/recorded the survey. "Response updated" means that an already completed/recorded survey was edited using Qualtrics API. He confirmed that there's no way to use Actions as intended if the "do not record responses" option is checked.
Thanks for sharing.I don't think the first option will work in this case because the "do not record" setting overrides any other end of survey setting if that specific end of survey is reached in the survey flow, meaning it doesn't send anything whatsoever to the database. This appears to include embedded data, as well as any data entered prior to this module/block (suggesting that the "do not record" applies to everything, not just what's in that logic branch in survey flow), which we do need to have in this case.I'll look into the 2nd approach with separate surveys though and report back here.
Thanks MatthewM .That's almost exactly what I need, except what I didn't mention is that this particular survey is set to NOT record survey responses. So as a result, I think it's behaving as if there's nothing to trigger the action--since the only options are response created or response updated.I may be missing something though, since I'm new to Actions. Here's what I have set up:Trigger based on event: Survey response created / Survey response updatedCondition: [email address field] is not emptyAction: Send email to [piped email address], send immediately, include response report and recipient dataI tried testing both options for the trigger separately, but no luck with either. I'm assuming "response created" means it was submitted to the database, rather than it was opened/started by the user.
To expand on the idea of using choice groups:You will need to assign the sub-option(s) ("Gas" in the example) to a choice group. Call the group whatever you'd like, then click on the group title and from the drop-down menu select "Hide group title". The resulting indent is slightly subtle, but better than nothing and probably safer than trying to custom code the formatting.
You can also save some time by going to the Actions column at the rightmost end of the data table and selecting Export to pdf there for the response you want (though it's still one response at a time).

You can, however, easily toggle sequentially between survey responses using the back/next buttons in the bottom-right of the pop-up preview window.
Thanks Ahmed--you're right about this. Also confirmed that tags work for underlining. I was mistaken in the original post, because I was testing the wrong iteration of the loop and merge field.
Thanks so much for your thoughtful answer. We can generate codes ahead of time if needed, but either way the plan is to only have one unique code per referrer to minimize the burden on them. They would share this same code with up to 10 of their eligible contacts, and the code would cease to work after it's been used to complete 2 surveys. The strategy you mention sounds like it would need each referrer to send a different code to each individual referee, right? (I don't think 2 codes would work for up to 10 referees.) That's interesting to consider, but I think placing the responsibility of keeping track of all 10 codes so as to avoid double-sharing them might be too much to ask (of thousands of participants).Even then, as far as I can tell there's nothing making sure no more than 2 codes from any given set were used to finish a survey, which is the main objective we have here.
This isn't working for me, but I'm not sure I'm understanding the instructions completely. Is it possible to post screenshots or an example of what specifically you're referring to when you say, "Set this according to where you are placing your text entry box" and "This refers to the last choice, -1 to the second last choice etc..."For me, the text entry culprit is next to last in the list of carry-forward items, but will always be displayed last because the question isn't displayed if that option ("None") is selected. I assumed you were referring to getChoices(), so I tried leaving that empty (last choice) and I tried getChoices(-1) (next to last choice). Neither works for me.I'm about to abandon carry-forward for option-level display logic since we haven't started data collection, but that's probably not an option for the original poster.
