dipeshsingh I should have clarified that I'm using customized end of survey rules that screen-out responses without recording the response so that they don't count against our survey complete limit. Therefore, I can't make an embedded variable because there is not response associated with these screen outs. In the example above, the distribution history used to say "Survey Screened Out: International" but now just says "Survey Screened Out" so I can't see which screener screened them out.

TomG & MatthewM Thanks Tom and Matthew. I suppose it's good to know that I'm not missing anything. I'd be hesitant to delete partial responses especially in cases where respondents might be half or three-quarters of way through a 20 minute survey.However, a strong majority of our partial responses are those who did not actually start their surveys. It would make sense to just delete those and have them start fresh.Good to know that the re-takes are an option but I could see that being problematic when sending out reminders through Qualtrics mail system. Does Qualtrics consider the original survey closed when using re-take links? I'd want to be sure that they are not getting both the reminder messages with links to their original survey and then a separate invitation containing their re-take link. Depending on the number of partial respondents, I'd probably change my approach...Many: Closing out any partials that are more than, say, 50% completes and scrap them. Delete any partial

TomG Thanks for the suggestion. Would you be able to screenshot an example with how you typically do this for each status? I assume Complete occurs after your last survey block.Then the Terminate status would update after each Terminate block, right? So say, terminating on geography. Show Geography block. Immediately follow with branch saying if, say, non-US, change status to Terminate, End of Survey?For the overquota, are you setting a branch that says, if particular quota is met, set status to overquota, and then End of Survey? Do you put that at beginning or end of survey flow? or both?

I assume your comment applies only if I know what sample each contact would be in ahead of time, but I should have been more clear in my question that I'm typically creating my samples within Qualtrics with both the randomizer and sample membership conditions. So my first sample would be a pre-test sample of, say, 100 randomly selected contact. My second sample might be a sample of 1000 randomly selected contacts with condition that they are not in the pre-test sample, and so on. I was hoping that I could embed or output a variable which tells me a particular complete was within, say, the pre-test sample or the second sample

Hi NiC, Thanks! That is a helpful tip about the media query. I will certainly make use of it if I'm able to figure out the issue above in the mobile view where the tooltip fails to extend beyond the small window.
The problem with your original method is that the question randomization within a block ignores things like skip logic. I think I may have figured it out. Question randomization does not ignore display logic, but this is definitely a messier approach. Use question randomization within your block. Place both questions under Randomize questions and change setting to show 1 question on each page. In question 1, set display logic so that it is shown only if none of the responses are selected in question 2. This prevents question 1 from being shown when question 2 was asked. In question 2, set display logic so that it is shown if other levels than "a great deal" or "a lot" in question 1 are not selected with And logic. I'd also recommend force response in validation options.
Is there a reason why you want to keep in a single block? This can be done relatively easy by separating the questions into two blocks. Under Survey Flow, add a Randomizer and place your two question blocks under it. Select to randomly present 1 of the elements. After the Randomizer, add a Branch with conditions that "a great deal" or "a lot" were selected in the appropriate question. Duplicate the second question block and move under the Branch condition.
Wow! Clap...clap...clap! Look&Feel was the one place I didn't check for consistencies. In the project that works, the header most definitely has a line of text to load the stylesheet and script. When I place that in the broken project, all the script works exactly as it should. Not sure how I've worked with this the last couple years without knowing about that piece of script in the header. Funny thing is that some of my javascript (divider lines, response reordering) worked in the broken project without the load script. I'm guessing, then, that is not jquery based. Many, many thanks Tom! Your responses in other posts have really helped me do some cool things in Qualtrics.
I'm unfortunately not enough of JS or jQuery pro to know if I have or not, but if it's not in the script I provided, probably not. Even though it doesn't resolve why the script works in one recent project but not another, I might have found a workaround. In my new project, the script will not work if I copy the question or block from the project that works, or start a new question from scratch and copy in JS script. However, when I make a copy of the entire project where the questions are working and strip out all of the unrelated questions, the suggested search questions still work as they should. I'm now going to copy in the other question blocks from by broken survey and hopefully all will continue to work. I greatly appreciate your assistance, Tom. I'm open to any other suggestions for a JS layman like me.
Hello Tom, Thanks for the suggestion! I tried changing the $j to jQuery but the dropdown still fails to display. Of note, I programmed one survey two or three days ago that also uses the undefined $j yet it still works as expected. If the $j is the culprit, it must be something for all new projects made in the last few days. I am looking into the select2 but feel a bit overwhelmed in attempting to compile the pieces I would need. Best, Terry
