We’ve created a QX surveys which loads a participants previous years answers from our own service API. Hereby we grant you access to the survey for the purpose of solving this ticket. To accomplish preloading in the header section of the QX survey we’ve added JavaScript code which get’s the unique identifier for a survey participant from EmbeddedData of the embedded data list (ExternalDataReference), requests the previous years data for this specific participant from an API. The API serves the participants data from one of our databases. Before setting the survey active we’ve tested the preloading successfully via: 1) hardcoding unique identifiers and checking the proper functioning of the preloading in preview mode → was successful, 2) with a “master/embedded data list for testing” containing our researchers contact information (email) + an exemplary unique ident
I’ve some generic JavaScript code I’d like to add to every new question. Adding by hand is super cumbersome in case the surveys are pretty long. It would be helpful to be able to set a custom default JavaScript automatically for every new question which is added via the QX survey UI. Is there some feature which allows me to do that?
I’ve a slider like the following one defined in the survey. This corresponds to a question object with a single choice → RecodeValue (runtime.Choices) and consisting of answers (runtime.Answers) like follows: Instead of using some hacky workaround to set the slider value (e.g. using some jQuery) like described in other threads I’d like to set the value explicitly via the QX API.I can get the choice and the corresponding RecodeValue. But I cannot set the value using the QX API no matter what API of the available options for this question type I use: How can I set values using the QX API?
I have a question of question type “side-by-side” I’d like to set the values for. The question looks in the UI like this. Via the question object I can get the question info. It contains the question type (QuestionType “SBS”) and variation (Selector “SBSMatrix”) which allow me to identify this question type variation as such one. The challenges I have right now:- How can I get meta data about the types of the column values (first column is string type, second column is integer type)? This is required to add conditional business logic based on actual question type variation.- What Qualtrics API (q.setChoice<something>) can I use in general to set values for this question type variation in survey preview mode a reliable way (means with a unique identifier for specific matrix cells)? This is required to set the values in a reliable way.
I’ve a matrix question with the variation configuration stated in the question title. In the UI the question looks like this:From the question object it seems like I can uniquely identify rows via choices (correspond to the 9 rows):However I could not get any info about how I can uniquely identify single cells (row + column) using the QX API. It’s pretty similar to the question type “side-by-side” where I have the same challenge: Does the QX API provide some functionality which allows it to uniquely identify single UI elements?Is there some generically working workaround for a possible lack of QX API support?
The usual jQuery syntax does not work when I try to get values of HTML elements. What syntax works in QX actually?

We’ve recognized that question type answer values can have a value of -99 (e.g. for checkbox values usually set to true if ticked). Seems like this means something like “survey participant did not answer those questions”. In some cases we had values of -98. We could not find any docs about when this value is set (it’s not set by the survey participant). Are there other special values which need to be considered?
With the QX API I could not figure out a way to distinguish “text entry” question type variant single line vs. multi line so far. The question object was not helping as well so far. runtime contains the question type (Type: “TE”) but nothing about the question variant.

In a QX survey we’ve set EmbeddedData to hardcoded value via the Survey Flow UI interface. In the HTML header we’ve included some JavaScript code and in questions we’ve included JavaScript code for trying to getting EmbeddedData into JS code business logic. I’m setting question choice values in questions using the Question JavaScript API with this.setChoiceAnswerValue(). The fake value I’m writing ATM is proper for sure (checked with this.getChoices(); beforehand). As soon as I’ve set a question value I’d like to update the survey preview mode UI accordingly. How can I do this? Is there some Qualtrics API which allows me to do so?As workaround I already tried to change the UI via JavaScript code. However this is not possible cause Qualtrics XM uses iframe in the preview mode I cannot mutate.
I’ve the following situation:We create surveys for specific participants in year X. The participants fill their survey. We copy the surveys. Now we’d like to pre-fill survey answers based on the participant specific survey response before we activate the survey.We’d like to use the survey platform only in the best case. Only if not possible we’d like to fallback to the QX API.
