I have two different questions about position in slider questions: moving labels from above the bar to the left side of the bar side with the slider/slider type, and changing position with the star type. Slider label from top to side:In the editor when you’re setting up a slider question, the labels are to the left, like this: But on the front end they go full width and move the label to above the left side of the slider, like this:This has proven confusing for people, as once they can’t see the top line they revert to normal labeling patterns and think of them like a caption, where the word below is a label for the thing above. Is there a way I reduce the width of the slider/scale so the labels are even with the bar on the left side, positioned more like in the editor? In another question I have a slider in the star format. This is kind of a weird request, but is there any way to look at the value of something (specifically a Scoring score) and set a separate embedded data field that only uses the last two digits of the score?So if a score was 218, for example, the regular Score field would still show 218, but in a new embedded data field (let’s say shortscore) it would save 18 instead of 218?For my attention checks they get 1 point for a correct answer and 100 points for an incorrect answer, which makes it easy to se both how many questions they got right (since there’s never more than 25 questions total) and how many they attempted overall. So the score gets saved as 218 if they answered 18 right and got 2 wrong. But I’m trying to also generate a percentage correct that can beshown to them at the end of the survey, so I want to create a separate field for just the last two digits. Is this possible?Thanks!
There seems to be a lot of extra white space between the question text and the stars in the slider/stars question type. Is there an easy way to reduce that so it looks more like the other questions? As it is it kind of looks like something is missing.
I’m trying to find documentation on what Qualtrics loads when in a public-facing survey. The survey I’m getting ready to launch goes like this:10-12 seconds load the first page from whatever referring link. This page only contains html and one MC (it’s a consent form). 10-17 seconds to load the 2nd page. This contains 5 multiple choice questions, one of which uses in-page display logic based on the answer to one of the earlier questions.2-3 seconds to load the 3rd page, which has a MC choice question with 60 answer choices that each have an image for an answer (a 150pxx220px png).2 seconds to load the 4th page, which has a slider question that’s visible, and several hidden questions doing some heavy lifting around checking for room in quotas based on the answer to a regular multiple choice question on page 2.2-3 seconds to load the 5th page, one MC question visible, several hidden questions with two-layer display logic on each answer choice using the answers to the image answer questi
I’ve never seen this before, hoping someone can give me a clue why it might be happening. I have a survey I’ve been working on for weeks. Nothing significant changed in the blocks where this started happening a couple of days ago. Now there’s a weird little scroll bar showing up by the next button (Continue on mine). Any idea why it might be doing this? Screenshot:It’s not impacting the functionality so it’s not really a big deal, but it’s proven to be distracting to the people who are test-taking the survey, so if there’s any easy answer to what’s causing it/a way to get rid of it, that would be cool.
I would like to use javascript to select choices in a multi-select MC question based on unselected choices in a previous question.I’m a little confused by how to do this because most of the related threads I’ve found are asking about selecting choices in conjunction with setting embedded data and/or other functions (and because I’m new to js). I only want to change the answer choice status -- all the other js/piped text/embedded data stuff is happening elsewhere. I’ve been trying to do complicated display logic based on one participant identity screening question, one participant previous exposure to stimulus question, + cross-logic quotas based on identity + stimulus status to use before loop and merge and create a list of video clips where the participant won’t have seen any of the tv shows before, they won’t see any character more than once, and for any given character they will only see a clip whose quota hasn’t been met yet. The level of combinations I’m trying to do doesn’t seem to supported by the menu-based system if I’m trying to use a single path to the loop and merge table (which I was). If I create branches for each of the identity answers and then duplicate the blocks through the loop and merge in the survey flow, would the Data show each branches’ blocks as separate questions or would it list the data from all three groups under the same question columns in the Data?So if there’s a MC question for stimulus group assignment (let’s
Hoping someone can tell me if this display logic will do what I’m trying to do. Context: Participants select tv shows they’ve seen, and will be shown random clips from shows they haven’t seen. Participants may be autistic, maybe-autistic, or not-autistic/unfamiliar (they didn’t know what autism means). I’ve set up three quotas for each video clip, on for autistic, one for maybe, and one for non-autistic (unfamiliar is lumped in with the nos). In the flow of the survey, once we know which shows they haven’t seen, those are associated with video clips that are availble, and then we do random selection from various categories to come up with the assigned clip list. I can do three branches in the selection flow so that autistic, maybe, and not-autistic each get their own selection questions with display logic for video clips based on previous exposure to show and space in that quota. Or, could I do one selection flow and dump all three quotas into display logic? This is where I’m second-gu
I keep getting an error if I try to add more than 99 lines in a cross-logic quota logic set. Is there a max? I’m wondering if I just need to break it up into a couple of cross-logic quotas, or if there’s an actual hard limit. I will have participants who self identify as one of four categories -- let’s call then N, U, A, and M. N and U will be lumped together for the sake of quotas. I have 220 video clips that will be used in about a dozen conditions. For each video, I’d like to cap it at around 30 for N+U, 30 for A, and 5 for M.It seemed like the way to go would be cross-logic quotas plus display logic:Quota logic set 1: 46% N or U, 46% A, 8% M Quota logic set 2: A line for each clip so the quota would only increment if someone assigned the video answered the attention check question correctly. I’d like to show the correct consent form as the first page/block based on a parameter in the URL used to access the survey. But because you can’t set embedded data until after the first block has been displayed, that doesn’t seem possible.First question: Is there a way to set embedded data and grab the value from the URL before actually displaying the first block? I have spent days reading support docs and threads trying to figure out how to do what I need, and I keep hitting a point where there’s a line like, “Qualtrics just doesn’t do that.” I’m hoping there’s something I’ve overlooked or maybe some JavaScript that could be added to make it work. I’ve set up a loop and merge to randomly display x number of loops from an L&M table where is row is for a different video clip and the fields are all the info getting piped into questions (character names, images, etc). My attention check question in each loop shows the correct answer and two distractors in randomized order for that video, like so:...where gym class is in field 13 (distractor), party is field14 (distractor) , and hang out is field12 (correct answer). In the data it just records the piped text code rather than the selected answer. I looked around here to try and find an answer given to someone else looking for the same thing, but I didn’t really find the same situation -- I found non-L&M instructions to set embedded data for each piped text (which seems redundant, since I already have entered the text into the L&M table for each field, which took forever), and some more complicated things like the piped text being drawn from previous text entry questi
Having trouble with in-page display logic. I have a matrix question that has 20 items and two columns. I want to ask one follow up text entry question for each statement they mark in the right hand column. I originally set this up with loop and merge, which was great for speedy setup, but I hated that it would only show one follow up question per page. It was recommended that I use diplay logic instead if I wanted all the follow-ups (one per right-column-selected statement) to appear on the same page. This is tedious since I have 5 of these matrix questions in different branches, which means setting up the per-question display logic 100 times (vs setting up loop and merge 5 times). Finally got through one of them, and did it as in-page. The trouble is, it's not working consistently. Some statements will trigger the display and some won't. I've gone back and checked, and the inpage display logic is set the same on the ones that work and the ones that don't. Has anyone encountered this,
Hi there. I'm having a rough time getting around some of the limitations, and my workarounds seem to be getting more and more complicated. I'm hoping someone can point me in the best direction. Goal: To have a working back button throughout survey, but also some conditional logic, so I have to find a way to do it without any branching or elements between blocks. Where I started: A survey that begins with a consent form, asks two screening questions, branches based on one screening question (continue with survey form or go to schedule a zoom interview in separate branch), main block of questions, conditional block of questions based on screening question 2, demographic questions, the end. This setup had 2 branching elements, which meant no back button at all. Because of the population and nature of survey, I need a back button for the survey. I couldn't think of any way to avoid branching for the survey vs interview signup screener, so I tried pulling that whole first section out (conse
I'm trying to use loop & merge. I have a question that has a two column matrix (easy/hard for the listed task statements). In the next block is a text entry question with piped text and loop & merge. My goal is that for every statement that gets marked as "hard" there will be a follow up text entry question asking them what would cause the respondent trouble with the task. I managed to work out the piping so it will show one "hard" choice in each loop, but it puts each one on a separate page. Is there any way to make it show all the loops on one page? So it could be like this:page 1: block ending in matrix question, say person chooses 3 hard itemspage 2: block with loop & merge. Hi there. I'm wondering if there's a way to remove the question separator line between two specific questions (not from the entire survey). The reason I ask is because there's still no option to add a 'comments about your answer' after a multiple choice question. There are two options consistently offered in these forums: a) Using an extra choice with text enty forces the question to be non-exclusive (bad); and b) making the 'comments about your answer' a separate text box question after the multiple choice question. The problem with option B is that then it looks like a separate question, which messes with the user's flow. So I'm wondering if there's a way to use custom css to tell the survey not to show the question separator after question / before question y.(And this post can be considered another person voting for an option to collect comments after multiple choice questions, it's such a common need.)Thanks!

I'd like to find a way to do something like this...Multiple choice multi-select question: Which of these movies have you seen? a. movie 1, b. movie 2, c. movie 3, etc. There is a list of 80 total movies, of which each participant will be shown a random 20 to choose from.Then, for each of the movies they selected, I want to ask them what they liked or disliked in a multiline text entry. Any thoughts?Things I've already considered:Instead of separate questions, I could use a side by side for question 1 to get the feedback while they're making the selections. That would be ideal! Except that the only text box size available is tiny, not big enough for someone to be able to see what they're writing. Create and individual follow-up question for each possible selection on the next page and use display logic to only show the ones tied to a selection in the multiple choice question.
