Are all the date formats similar or the same? If not, there’s still a way that the data can be displayed within a dashboard, you’d just need to document the different date formats in the responses you’ve received to define within the dashboard data settings. Within the Dashboard Settings > Dashboard data, add a field, set the type to Date.Map your date field from your survey source to it. Click on the blue calendar icon to the left of your survey date field to set Date formats.You can add more than 1 date format and even custom ones.I think that should allow you to still utilize the date text input as date for filter ranges and within widgets without having to change the question to have date input validation.

Well I think I came up with a hack to get it to work.Since the question is required, some value needs to be stored. So I set the question to have a default value of today’s date, so it stores that into the question to pass the requirement, but then stores the FlatPickr value into the embedded data because that’s the value I care about. When testing the field, the default value doesn’t actually display in the field, so the user doesn’t necessarily see that the question is storing today’s date. Which is inconsequential.
@Tom_1842 I’m not sure why I didn’t get notified of your replies. But appreciate it nonetheless! I applied the jQuery and it works and stores the data in the embedded data when the question is optional. However, this question is required in my form and when I set the question as required, it throws an error and doesn’t let the form get submitted. Any thoughts on this?EDIT: When I look at Data & Analysis, it doesn’t show anything storing for that question, which makes sense…. 🤦🏼♀️ and how we got to this solution with the embedded data to begin with…So I’m not sure if there IS a solution other than making the field optional?When field is optional, data storing:When field is required, throwing an error.
However, after the first attempt I can’t get it to store anymore in new response records. Any idea what might be causing that? My only guess is that the response were it worked was a preview and you never published the survey. I was publishing the survey every time then I checked my work and the JS like 12 times. I even tried to duplicate the test form again and try starting over. I even pulled up the Chrome Dev tool and I noticed there was an error saying it couldn’t find “Qualtris” so I looked back at the code you’d shared that I was copying and pasting and the very first instance of Qualtrics was misspelled “Qualtris”. But even after I fixed that I felt like even then it wasn’t working. BUT now it is. @TomG Aha, yes I am indeed using Simple layout. I forget that that layout requires slightly different things. So I believe I made the changes in the appropriate places and just tested it again and still the data is not being stored. So not sure what’s going on now.
Hi @TomG. Well lucky me! So I tried implementing it a few different ways trying to interpret from the stackoverflow and it didn’t seem to be correct. This is how I have it set up now and it’s still not working so would appreciate your guidance. I have a few blocks that make up this section. An Intro block, the Document Submission block is where my file upload questions are and then a Agree & Submit block.The FileID variable needs to be defined before that as embedded data before the JS which I put at the top of the survey flow.I’ve added the JS to question 59 in the Agree & Submit block, thinking it needed to be after the file upload questions themselves in order to correctly capture the fileURL variable from the piped text. I also included a test in question 60 to see if the embedded data is getting stored, but not sure if it would populate at that point or not. But the data still doesn’t seem to be recording. My response back from Qualtrics Support was that what I was trying to achieve can’t be done. I will definitely add this as a product enhancement, because I feel like I can’t be the only person who’d want this and not have to leverage the API to do so. But in the meantime, when I do have to implement this (I was just trying to validate the possibilities for a future build), I will work with my IT team to see how we can implement it utilizing the API.
This top workflow is based on the selection in a dropdown. There is no further action to be taken. They will not proceed through the intake form and will not be redirected to a URL like the two other branches below. So I’m hoping to try to figure out how to have the Close button actually close the tab without it applying to all of the Submit buttons because some will actually submit the intake form and I want them to see the confirmation message and some will redirect. I was this branch to only close the tab on this Close button. My only workaround I can think of is still have the End of Survey then have an end of survey message that tells them they can close. But ideally, I’d like that they could just click the close button and be done. OR hide the submit button on this and then include verbiage that they can close this tab within this question.
@Tom_1842 Appreciate all your attempts to solve this conundrum. I’ll just hold off for now and just resort to a text field with a date format validation which is a bummer cause Flatpickr is so slick.I wish I knew how to mark this as Not Resolved anymore. But I don’t know who to even contact for that. I don’t think submitting a support ticket makes sense for that but idk who else to try to contact or if there’s a way to tag an admin user to this thread. 😒
@TomG unfortunately, that change actually made it so the Flatpickr doesn’t display at all now. I’m assuming something to do again with using the Simple Layout Theme.

How would I know where to look for the correct jQuery selector name in the future?I know how when inspecting the field I can see the class=”text-input” which was what I had in there from my previous posts’ suggested solution, but not sure how/where to look to know I’ve got the right jQuery selector.
@tannerfaragher I’m not exactly sure what you’re asking but selecting the date from the Flatpickr in the survey does input a date into the field. I included a screenshot of that above. It’s just not saving. Every other piece of data in the survey saves, just not the date when submitting the survey.I even tried to inspect the survey to see but I’m not technically savvy to look into if there’s something going wrong from when the date is showing as selected in the field and upon clicking submit.

@tannerfaragher it’s what I used for 2 other surveys related to this third survey so I wanted to keep consistent look and feel. And that theme layout feels the most modern, which was why I chose it from the beginning. @Tom_1842 I will give this a try, thank you so much!
Thanks @Rod_Pestell and @tannerfaragher for your responses.I submitted feedback via that survey (not my first time submitting feedback about that theme) but specifically related to the JavaScript for the Text entry question type.Yeah, I’m not sure there’s anything to be done for now until they support the JavaScript as I didn’t put anything in the External CSS in order for it to work on a different theme. Disappointing, but oh well.

However, if you do need to show the respondents a summary of all of their responses from the survey before submission and then it redirects them to the URL, you could create your own response summary from piped in text of their selected choices as a last text/graphic question before submission. I found Creating my own Response Summary with questions and piped text to be super valuable because the Response Summary looked terrible and I can have control over the buttons for each block saying Review then Submit. Thanks for this suggestion!-----I also figured out that if you try to just but a survey link in the End of Survey message, it doesn’t display, but if you put a survey URL in as a link, it DOES work.
