As of just an hour or two ago, we are getting a 404 error on the “Get Contact in Mailing List” call: https://iad1.qualtrics.com/API/v3/directories/{directoryId}/mailinglists/{mailingListId}/contacts/{contactId} Unfortunately this is at the beginning of the survey and breaks the whole thing. Nothing on our end has changed, we’ve used this hundreds of thousands of times over the years….
We are on XM Directory Lite. I’ve been trying to generate a sample via the Create Sample and/or Create Sample Definition APIs.https://api.qualtrics.com/a42111b5a99eb-create-samplehttps://api.qualtrics.com/d2348a0dfa5ff-create-sample-definition I have multiple questions about how the filters are supposed to interact, but my main one is how to actually populate the sample so that I can download it with Get Sample Contacts (https://api.qualtrics.com/f7b8d90819090-get-sample-contacts) The documentation for Create Sample implies that it will be populated, but it’s not. Is there yet another API call I’m missing that needs to be used to trigger creation of the actual sample? A post from 4 years ago indicates that there were technical issues with these APIs they were “working on” but I’m assuming this can’t be the same thing… (Could not get contact from Sample, alway return empty list | XM Community (qualtrics.com) Thanks!

Found out today when ramping up for an administration we do several times a year that we now no longer have access to some of the Directory Contact API calls, which are unfortunately fairly mission critical. I know they were working as recently as December, or at least November. Was there any notice given?
I fear I know the answer, but just to be sure: We are converting a survey to Simple Layout. In the Authenticator Prompt message we have some JQuery we use to make some edits to the Authenticator page. Hiding progress bar, moving some divs, etc.As far as I can tell this no longer works on simple layout, even after changing css id and class references to match the new ones used in Simple Layout.I’m hoping that I’m just being dense and can’t figure out the code, but if someone can confirm that we can’t use Jquery on the authenticator page, I can move on to finding an alternative solution. TIA!
Hi,I have not been able to get the "inList" filter to work on the Search Directory Contacts API. Other filters, yes, but not this one.I know there is also a get Mailing List Contacts API, but what I am needing to do is search within a mailing list based on another criteria.EDIT: This is the error message I recieve, even when using the exact syntax from the documentation: "errorMessage": "The provided simpleFilter syntax is invalid, please review all components before retrying the request",Has anyone else been able to get this filter to work?Thanks!
Hi,Is there a way to do a bulk update of existing contacts in XM Directory (lite) in the same way you could with research contacts?We used to be able to update existing contacts by including the recipientID/ContactID, however the XM directory GUI seems not to recognize ContactID at all. (Or display it anywhere.)I can still update contacts individually using the API, but if I had 100 or 1000 to update, it doesn't appear the CSV method works at all anymore.TIA!
Hi,We have a large (can grow to over 100k) mailing list used as an authenticator for our surveys. For a number of reasons, we keep a clone of that list in a SQL table, so that internal processes don't always have to access the Qualtrics API.With research core contacts, we were able to query the recipientID of the last record downloaded and use that as the skiptoken/starting point for the next download.Is something like this possible with 'List Contacts In Mailing List' in XM Directory? I understand if we wanted to download the entire list how the skipToken link works, but it's not clear to me that saving the 'skipToken' link and then calling it next time we need to sync the clone always starts at the same spot.Even if it does, there's still the issue of the 1-50 contacts downloaded in the call that results in a null for 'skipToken'.Anyone else struggling with this, or better yet, found a workaround?TIA!Chris
Hi, it appears we may be unable to avoid having a survey ongoing when the Contacts to XM Directory migration occurs.This particular instrument uses an authenticator based on a contact list and also calls an API to get data from a second contact list.Both processes would seem to be susceptible to breaking from the migration, especially the latter since Contacts and XM Directory have different APIs.Does anyone who has already been migrated have relevant experiences to share?TIA!
We may soon move to a new Qualtrics "Brand" and will need to migrate several mission critical contact lists. It is pretty straightforward to download as a csv and then upload again. However, that leads to new Qualtrics IDs for the contacts and we use to integrate with our databases.Is it possible to migrate and retain the same qualtrics IDs?My guess is no, but maybe I'm wrong...TIA!
We have an authenticator with two fields. The first is prefilled in the url. The second is filled in by the respondent and checked against the contact list.It works fine if the second field is correct, but if the user enters and incorrect response, gets the standard message and then enters the correct value, they get the 'this question requires a response' message.I'm thinking that it is somehow losing the prefill value, even though it is still present in the URL.If the screen is refreshed, it works fine again.
We have a survey in which the respondents first identify their organization, then that data is used to pull in related data for other parts of the survey (as well as let us know which organization is responding).This would be straightforward if each org had a password or unique id they could enter. We'd set up an Authenticator and contact list. But in this case we want each org to be able to select their org name and move on. Is there a way to make the text field for an authenticator a drop down or autocomplete?An alternative solution would be to use a regular dropdown and call the rest of the data via the API. In this case the challenge is that our list is almost 1000 long, and ideally we'd collect the org id while the user selects the org name. Is there a way to populate the drop down based on a contact list? (Planning on using JQuery to turn the drop down into an Autocomplete in either situation.)TIA!
Am I correct in thinking that the only API functions available for samples in Research Core are List Samples and Get Sample?Ideally, we'd like to automate sample definitions rather than doing them manually on the dashboard, but I'm not sure there's a good option for that in Research Core.Alternatively, if there is a way to automate export of a subset of a contact list (basically a query) that would work as an alternative.Just want to make sure we have exhausted the alternatives before setting aside a few days a year to power through the periodic creation of several hundred sample definitions.TIA!Chris
For the life of me, I can't figure out how to remove deprecated or mistakenly added fields from a contact list. Eg. two fields one 'Advisor' one 'advisor' and only one is the actual field. No harm is done by the extra field - unless someone puts the data in the wrong field or includes the wrong one in a survey.We don't have XM Directory, just the Survey Platform.TIA!

However this could be pushing 100 different blocks. This will be cumbersome in the survey flow GUI, but other than that is there a reason not to do it?Thanks!

Is there a way to move the position of the Authenticator input box. Or alternatively to put a second message below the box?We'd like to have the main authenticator message, then the input box, then a second part of the message. Basically first message is instructions and the second has some contact info if the user has questions and we'd like to put it below the input field. I've considered using css or jquery to move it around, but concerned about accessibility or responsiveness issues.Thanks
Hi,We are using the autoadvance setting and it works for our single question pages, but on multiple question and matrix question pages, it does not advance. Not sure if this is the way it is supposed to work or not.Has anyone else encountered this issue?THanks
[Editing because my diagnosis below was completely wrong...]It turns out the issue was we had the timing question last on each page, which apparently holds up the auto advance. That makes sense I guess, but seems like it shouldn't. If any one else has experienced this, I'd be interested in work arounds. We've used the authenticator on numerous surveys with great success, but we'd like to customize the authenticator message based on a URL parameter. That is, if the url has something like ?dept=english it will say "please enter the code that Jane Doe, Chair of the English Department sent you. Yadda yadda. Her emails is janedoe@english.com." At that point the English faculty would enter the authenticator code.If I was building this from scratch I'd have a table with department codes and department chairs, contact info, etc. and would look that up based on dept=english. However it's not clear that it's possible in Qualtrics, at least not without going to web services.
