How to identify (pairs of) duplicate responses?

Hi both, hope it’s ok to add to this thread…. I’m looking for a similar solution but my survey uses personal links which should only be allowed to use once, yet sometimes we’ve noticed some instances where more than one response has been completed by the same person.  We can’t work out how this is happening at the moment, we’ve tried to trick the system ourselves using genuine links in the email invites but it says you’ve already completed a survey or throws some java / server errors if you try and do the survey at the same time on two systems. I need to find some examples to send to the Qualtrics support team and so the current solution is to export the data and count the booking ID embedded field (which should be unique) in excel.  But is there a way I could run a duplicate check for the booking ID in a report or dashboard and send an alert when it finds more than one count of the same booking ID?  That way I can pass this onto Qualtrics straight away. Thanks Rod Pestell

Dynamic lookup based on response to a survey question

hi @CLM  It sounds like you need to use an authenticators in the survey flow referring to a contact list.  If it’s not found in the contact list then the next step would be to use an API call using the webservice task to ping your (azure / AWS?) systems and return the relevant information.  We done something similar, eg. our respondent provides some information, we ping our API service and it comes back with a true or false as to whether the information matches. Note: Authenticators are difficult to use if this is an automated survey which has transaction fields mapped to it (instead of embedded fields) but there are ways round it but if this survey is from an anonymous link then no worries! You may also be interested in that Qualtrics have just brought out a Lookup task that will work of a supplemental table. Hope that helps a little Rod Pestell

hi @dtyler  @Julie_130 , just thought I’d add a comment to this thread as Qualtrics (albeit 5 years down the line!) are releasing a new Lookup task which should hopefully simplify things and will work of a supplemental table.I’ve yet to try it out and especially keen to know if this will work in a loop task situation meaning it may allow us to update or change data (embedded fields) retrospectively instead of doing complex API stuff. Hope that helps someone (in some way!) :)

Hello Qualtrics Team, Re the Lookup task, I’ve read through the support page but wondered if it was possible to add another example which included a loop task.  This would be extremely powerful as then it would mean it would amend or change data retrospectively.  :D Please can you feedback on this and request a additional example to be added to the support page with any caveats on this? Thanks Rod Pestell

Hi @TomG Thanks for that.  What screen resolution would you say is the nominal width you’d say represents a mobile?  I’ll work backwards from there then as we use a static theme which reduces the width slightly. Thanks Rod Pestell

Trying to capture Device Type and Browser Language as Emdedded Data

Thanks TomG. I guess I didn't understand how to use the Browser Meta Info question. I thought that the values captured would show up in the response data immediately (mine are all blank). So I will have to create embedded data elements for the attributes I want to capture and pipe-in information from the Browser Meta Info question? Still being a newbie to this platform, how (and where) exactly would I go about installing my own JavaScript? @Chris_M no one has mentioned it yet so thought I’d chime in, it’s likely that they are blank because you need to retrieve these fields after a page break.  Just ran into that problem myself. Hi @TomG,  late to the party here but are we saying using the Device Type in the display logic of a survey is not going to be 100%?I’m about to deploy in infographic for desktop and another infographic for mobile and was going to use the device type display logic instead of trying to parse the width pixels value from the metadata fields. Thanks Rod Pestell

Survey Invite Email HTML Templates

Hi @JesperAndersen  Thanks for the reply.  let me post the start of our HTML template we currently have.  It shows a lot of conditional styles, eg. if content is Edge or if gte mso 9.  This is a template that over time no doubt needs to be updated and maintained.  So working with an html editor alone won’t have this information and understanding.  There are websites such as https://email2go.io/features/free-html-email-template-builder/ out there that provide a service that can test email templates and no doubt manage all these conditional styles.  It’s this that I am after advice on. Email clients, still from my experience handle the layout of objects and elements differently, especially Outlook.  eg. a centre aligned table won’t centre in outlook so the work around is to put extra columns on the side and adjust to the same proportional size eg. 20%, 60%, 20%. ThanksRod Pstell <p> <meta content="text/html; charset=utf-8" http-equiv="content-type"></p><p> &

Hi Support Team, Thanks for this week’s update - great news on these additional dashboard elements. I shall be looking to use the combined dashboard datasets for next year’s dashboards and surveys.  One question... will this mean that the ticket data dashboard time calculations are now also possible using dashboard data (providing the data is formatted correctly)? Also, were there any preview meetings organised for these elements?  It would have been great to have been given the opportunity to feedback and enquire if any of the past product ideas relating to these features had been addressed and if not, why not. For instance:Past product ideas requested an improvement to the the visibility of data points.  Using the comparison feature the issue is much more noticeable as the data points don’t display as expected for each year. The control of the position of the data points and the size or width of the bar charts was also mentioned.  There is so much white space and thin bars can make i

Hi Qualtrics Team, I have a number of questions regarding the above…. Please can you confirm that the new dataset / Data Models will allow more than one dashboard “project” to connect to the same dataset?  I’m assuming it is but the way it was worded wasn’t that clear and didn’t include the word ‘project’.   This would be a game changer and allow easier administration saving a lot of time when you need to make a change to a dataset (eg a new question is added or changing re-codes or changing textiq syntax's) I’m also interested in the Join data.  In terms of migrating existing dashboards over to this new ‘joined’ dataset, is this as straight forward as selecting a new source in the CX dashboards dataset section? (you don’t cover this in the support page). Please can you also discuss the likely errors that we might get and how to resolve them.  For example the current join (Merge) task offering is limited to one run per day (if you have more than 200 responses) and it regularly falls ov

Hi @Eumetis, I agree with @Sowrabh1993 ‘s answer but just wanted to let you know that if you are using transaction data for the import and distribution of the survey, using an authenticator becomes a bit of a problem.  There is a work around but if you are only using embedded data from the start, then that’s all fine :)ThanksRod Pestell

Help with a Conjoint-ish question survey setup

Hi @TomG Just wanted to provide an update. I’ve been working through a number of options. I setup a MC question with random order and limited to 4 sets as suggested.  The analysis though is where we’re stuck as there is no guided package.  Therefore, as a backup I’ve developed a means (in excel) which just measures which is the most commonly selected offer and also the most common one selected in a combination of options.  It’s not statistical at all but perhaps will come in handy one day. So the above is in effect now my backup solution and as of this week we got some advice in that the type of conjoint we need to do is an Adaptive Conjoint Analysis.  Does this make sense?  Not heard of that before and still trying to find an example aligned to our needs to be sure that will work. It’s also been suggested we outsource to a company called Conjointly.com.  Have you heard on them?  It looks like they provide the adaptive conjoint and when you buy an annual subscription they offer support

Hi @MSobotta  Great answer.  Do you have a solution for a embedded field of a past date?  eg. we have a field that is imported at the time of a survey response being recorded of a past date.  Is there a way to retrospectively create a custom field (in the D&A tab) that will convert that date to a day.  Our field is called holidayStartDate and the date is written in the form of 2023-09-09 (, ie US format so that it’s recognised by Qualtrics as a date). Using the Bucket field for every day would be a solution but not really something I’d like to consider as it would be a mammoth task to assign and group every date - unless there is a quicker way to setup a bucket field (eg import a csv file but I don’t think that’s possible).  Similarly you might be able to import a setup file in a dashboard dataset and import a file but again this will need to be updated every so often and I’m not sure that it would be available for statsiq work? Thanks in advance Rod Pestell

Help with a Conjoint-ish question survey setup

Hi Tom, Thanks for the reply.  It sounds like a multichoice question is the (only) way to go then but presume then there is no built in analysis setup to run?  Or... can you import the survey into a Concept Testing Program project and it will let me tell it what need analysing (haven’t read up on what type of data and layout it would expect but presume this is probably a no go as it’s likely to only look at ‘concept testing’ projects rather than standard surveys). Can you shed some light on the resulting analysis process or any more details, eg. in what form or layout would we need to get the data in to process it? I’ve used Loop and Merge only a little so will have a read up on it. Thanks Rod

HI All,  A little more research and maybe what I am looking for is something called ‘monadic analysis’ as I’m wanting to focus in on a single feature.  This might also be known as tradeoff analysis but then that sounds like it will take the choices from a previous question and then ask the respondent to narrow them down further. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks Rod Pestell

Hide options in a side by side question

Hi All, I’m catching up on this thread again.  I now need to cycle through a previous side by side question and hide / disable the came corresponding cell in the current side by side question if a specific choice has been selected (eg. ‘I didn’t eat here’).  I’m just manually trying to hide the cells first but can’t even get past this point. Can someone please confirm if I simply do:Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.addOnload(function()var qid = this.questionId;jQuery('QR~'+qid+'#1~1').up('td').childElements().invoke('hide');});to hide the first cell?It doesn’t seem to be working so I guess it’s not right Thanks Rod Pestell

Creating a hyperlink to an HTML file stored in the File Library

update…. just tried a public report (from an empty survey) and it looks ok but the problem is you have an annoying link to down it as a pdf and zoom controls top left but also links are disabled - you can’t click on it. so back to the drawing board! This is the little report.  (dashboards won’t work as they are not public facing but report in surveys can be public facing):  Any thought most welcomeThanks Rod Pestell

Creating a hyperlink to an HTML file stored in the File Library

Hi @rondev , @rarcega  I’ve run into this problem too and just wondering if there has been any other thought on this.  My requirement is to create a simple redirect page for the logout process (as we’re moving over to Single Sign On) just saying you’ve been logged out of Qualtrics and then provide a hyperlink to a webpage.  I’m struggling to host this html file / page and so looking for ways round this. I’ve so far tried using an image instead which works but the problem is you can’t control the page nor provide a hyperlink etc. I did also think about hosting a public dashboard and using the link for that.  Are there any thoughts on that route?  Normally you’d want a clean URL address when doing redirects.  That’s the only drawback I can think of. Any thoughts most welcome Thanks Rod
