Hello! We are trying to build a test where participants have to look at two pictures, and decide whether the two pictures depict the same person, or different people. Following, they have to respond using a “confidence scale” where: 0 indicates “Absolutely certain that the two images depict the same person” and 100 indicates “Absolutely certain that the two images depict two different faces indicates”. We want to convert their responses on the confidence scale into SAME for scores from 1-50, and DIFFERENT for scores from 51-100. As an example for a practice trial, we wanted to tell participants the following: On this trial you responded "XX" on the scale. As this was between "1-50/51-100" this was converted into a "Same/Different" face response with "higher (if 1-25 or 76-100) or lower (if 26-75)" levels of confidence. The correct response was "Same/Different" Face. Your response was therefore "Correct/Incorrect". As an example, if on a trial where the correct response is “DIFFERENT”
Hi,I will do my best to explain my current situation, but please let me know if I need to clarify anything.I am looking to randomise my question blocks (as each block contains all of the parts of a single trial), but I am in need of a way that participants can see what trial they are on, without using a progress bar. However (and more importantly), the trial numbers should not be randomised, and always go from Trial 1 - 10 (for example) regardless of the order the randomiser places the questions. So for example, if I were to simply manually label each primary segment of the question block = Trial 1 of 10 (and so on), the randomiser will result in this messing up the order: Trial 1 of 10 --> Trial 6 of 10 --> Trial 10 of 10 --> Trial 3 of 10 and so on, until all 10 trials have been shown. I need a way (whether this be embedded data or JS) that I can ensure that despite the question blocks are randomised, it will always start at Trial 1 of 10 and continue until Trial 10 of 10.Essentially
Hi everyone! My question is regarding the possibility of manipulating participants’ responses on a slider question. We are working on a pilot test where participants are asked to provide a numerical answer (they have to provide a sentence in years after reading a fictional scenario).For the next question, we want to tell them that the fictional judge provided a sentence 2 years longer than the numerical answer they provided. I tried to set an embedded data field in the survey flow, and set the value to calculate as their numerical answer provided earlier, plus 2. It looked like this: ${q://QID155/ChoiceNumericEntryValue/1} +2}.Then, in the question describing the judge sentence, I added this embedded data field as piped text. However, the piped text does not show to respondents at all. I’m wondering if there is something wrong with the way the value was written, or if there is another way of achieving this with the help of Javascript. Hi there,I am not sure if what I am asking is possible, but wanted to ask the community. I am putting together Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) as trials that have two key parts:An image (this will be in the Question test)MCQ of two answers (same/different)However, for this trial, I am looking to have the image only displayed for a specific length of time (e.g., 5 seconds), but participants can take as long as they like to answer the question itself.So, for instance, if a participant was to go onto the trial, the image is displayed for 5 seconds only, but participants do not have a time limit to actually answer the question. Therefore, a participant is able to respond to the MCQ during the 5 seconds the image is displayed, and after the image has disappeared. Is this something that is possible in Qualtrics using custom code? I know there is auto-advance with a timing question, but this would mean that the image display and MCQ would need to be two separate questions, rather than one. P
Hi all,I was wondering if I can get some advice on setting up a Loop & Merge study and whether there is an approach I can take to make analysing the data much simpler. I am looking to put together a project whereby participants can view two items and their task is to rate the similarity (1-10) of the two. I have tried to conduct something similar in the past using Loop & Merge, but the output ended up being very unruly. For this, I had some JS that took items from a master list and placed them in their positions (i.e., left or right hand side of the screen for participants to just similarity). The information I could only put in the master list were the Qualtrics IDs from the library which, since they cannot be renamed (i.e., F=F_XXXXXX), makes it very unclear as to what each combination is. This can get worse with more items and therefore more combinations. This project was some time ago, and I was wondering as to whether anyone has had better luck with a set-up for something
Hi all,I was wondering if someone could help.I am having a problem with a one of my workflows.I have piped some embedded data from my survey into an email trigger in a workflow.I know that the data is correctly stored as it is saved as embedded data. The embedded data is then correctly piped into my email trigger. This works for one language; however, I have the exact same message translated into another language (although the embedded data remains identical), but the data is not being shown. Has anyone else had this, or a similar problem before? Thank you in advance.
Hi there,I have created a series of slider-type questions (3 slider responses per question). However, when I download the data, rather than the variable name ending with “_1” (for the first slider), “_2” (for the second) and so on, they all end in _42, _43 and _44, for some reason. As far as I am aware, no other sliders were added and deleted to make up the first 41 slider responses, if this were the issue, so I have no idea why these are appearing as such.So, I was wondering if there was a way of changing the _42, _43 and _44 to _1, _2 and _3 for the question numbers, without having to remake the project again from scratch. Hi all,For part of a project, we are asking participants to nominate two members of their family to participate in a Stage 2. Unique codes for these two family members will be automatically generated and stored as two different embedded data (i.e., Code_1 & Code_2). These codes would be saved into a new contact list and an authenticator will be set up for the Stage 2 link so that ONLY the generated codes can have access to Stage 2.The problemThe two generated codes will be saved in two different embedded data fields in the initial survey. However, in order to save the codes into the contact list under the same “code” field (i.e., External Data Reference etc.), they will need to be first saved under the same name to be saved under the same column in the contact list, so that the authenticator can pick them up.However, if I were to set it up so that Code_1 and Code_2 is saved under the same third embedded data field (i.e., ExternalDataReference), one will override the other, and only

For one of my projects, we use the embedded temporary codes, assigned randomly to participants. This has generated duplication. Is there a way of creating a system of B codes instead, where these are given to participants in 7’s? For instance, B00000001, B00000008, B00000015, B00000022, B00000029 etc. If so, how would this be set up and how can I make that the system knows what code has been issued before generating the new one, to make sure the codes are generated in 7’s?
When building a survey, any URL can be set up to open in a separate window. However, the same does not seem to be too straightforward with emails that are hyperlinked. It seems that, perhaps, it is an automatic Qualtrics function that, any emails, should open on the respondent’s default email app. However, when it is the case that an individual does not have a default email app, the hyperlinked email address opens on the same page of the survey and not on a separate window. Is there a way to make these hyperlinked email addresses open on a new window for those without a default email app on their devise to avoid disrupting the page they are on?
I was hoping to compile 10 + surveys into 1, and their respective language translations. Is this something possible to do? or would the system completely crash? What would be the most efficient way of having these all together?
Hi all,Some of our projects involve participants listening to a large array of audio clips that are set to autoplay once. I have read here (https://community.qualtrics.com/XMcommunity/discussion/664/autoplay-videos-from-files-library) that mobile devices restrict autoplay features to avoid too much data being used without owner's consent. I have experienced issues with audio clips for this particular reason, but what could a reason be for some participants also experiencing a similar issue when using different browsers on a laptop/PC?For the project we run, we advise people to use Google Chrome as we found this to be the most reliable (compared to other browsers such as Safari, Edge etc.), but some people have experienced audio issues with this too. Is it a matter of not having an updated browser, or an old device/operating system? Or is there something else that could make audio clips not fail to generate as much?Note - most of the time it works perfectly, but to optimise our projects
Hello, I am having trouble editing the language selection for database collection links. We use a landing page that is library referenced that we insert in the database collection links. But each link is specifically made for certain languages (we don't want to have all languages together so for example French is in one link while Italian in another one - but the survey is the same, it is just two different versions). Therefore after adding the landing page block, I want to delete some languages in the translation section but it does not seem possible as it always adds every single language back after I published and saved. Could you tell me if there is a way (for example using javascript) to hide/delete languages or do I need to edit the languages on the landing page that is library referenced in order to have what I need, and therefore have different versions of a landing page as well? The projects lead on from each other so they all use the same header and footer.The header and footer are formed from script that was given to us to use in this particular project across several surveys. However, the header is correctly centred in one of the projects, but when copy and pasted identically across to the second project (and so on), the header is misaligned and is all the way to the right. Nothing has changed other than the survey - the script used is identical. Hi all,I have a single library reference block that has been translated into several languages. As such, the feedback and answers to a practice question change depending on the language that is selected. For example, for English, participants would type in "PT" and they would be able to progress. For German, participants would type in "ÜZ". However, I am having an issue with participants using characters from other languages, such as "Ü" in this instance. I know that this is because of the match regex I have:^[A-Z]{2}$Two characters between A-Z only. I also know that "\\p{L}" exists to allow any language. Could anyone please help me to put these two together so that the question will only accept two characters from any language, similar to the above regex?Note - I have tried:^[\\p{L}][A-Z]{2}$^\\p{L}[A-Z]{2}$^{\\p{L}}[A-Z]{2}$^\\p{L}{2}$None of these seemed to work.Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thank you in advance.
Hi all,I am still awaiting a response for the following issue I am having. If any one can offer support, please do so. I have a potentially complex coding question that I would like some support with. The two points below are for context of the information and current setup we have:(1) For a number of our projects we have custom code set-up to measure specific timestamps - this is done through JS and uses a hidden text-entry box to automatically insert a timestamp when a participant clicks onto the next page.(2) We also have set up a workflow for participants to complete Part 2 of our project after 7 days (done by the usual workflow mechanics). However, we have experienced issues with participants having 99% completions in which they have finished everything, get to the final page, but do not submit their responses. Hi all,I have a hyperlink in my survey that I need to open in a new Window, rather than a new Tab. I have checked the Qualtrics Community before and made the following checks from what I have read:I have added the target information when inserting the hyperlink, so it will look something like this: URL NAME HERE I have checked with the Brand Administrator at my institution and found that we have the correct permissions to have the link accessed (this is another solution I saw around the community).However, even with these two in effect, the hyperlink still only opens in a new tab and not a new window. I have tested this on more than one Internet browser (e.g., Chrome + Firefox) as participants may well be using several different internet browsers.
