Multiple language survey: Changing default drop-down menu to make it easier to select language | XM Community
Skip to main content

Hi all,
I am trying to provide my participants with a more intuitive way of selecting the language preference for my survey, rather than the drop-down that Qualtrics provides by default.
I have had a look at several sources for trying to replace the drop-down menu:
https://community.qualtrics.com/XMcommunity/discussion/9256/2-language-survey-how-to-change-language-drop-down-to-a-simple-button
https://community.qualtrics.com/XMcommunity/discussion/2308/change-mode-of-selecting-survey-language-using-css
https://community.qualtrics.com/XMcommunity/discussion/1338/is-there-a-way-to-add-a-label-above-the-language-selection-drop-down

But none of these seem to provide a good solution for multiple language translations. I also found that the first link above, produces a box in the header to switch between languages, but does not seem to work too well, even when replacing with my language codes.

What I am thinking is whether there could be a more intuitive way of selecting the preferred language, i.e., displaying options as flags (attributed to the spoken language e.g., EN = UK or US flag etc.) and this then records the language code and switches to the correct language?
I am assuming JS or custom code will be required here, but unsure as to how to tackle the problem.
Any advice/guidance would be great!
Thanks in advance
