Hi - I have a matrix question that I want to populate with answers using JS code. My code works to set the columns I want to the answers I want. However, when the next button is pressed I get an error "Please answer this question". Interestingly enough I turned off Force Response for the matrix question, and I still get that error. I can make the error go away by setting the answers for each row in the matrix question to column 1. I would like to take the answers that are entered in a matrix total sum table and convert the units in real time. Is this possible? For example, if the respondent answers the area of land question in hectares, this is converted to acres. If they answer in acres this is converted into hectares, and both columns sum to the total land area. (See screen shot below). !
Hi XM Community: Is it possible to restrict today's date from showing in a calendar and only show specific dates future in the future? We are using flatpickr.js for the inline calendar. We created a registration form for the live-training sessions that we host weekly using Research Core in Qualtrics. In the form, individuals select the training session and then proceed to pick the date and time they want to attend. We use Display Logic to determine which calendar will show depending on the training session selected because the sessions are offered on different days of the week. Currently, each calendar is set up to show today's date and specific dates when a training session is available; i.e. menu training is available on Mondays; systems training is available on Tuesdays, etc. We pull the registrations in the morning and then email the registrants with the information to join the session. A newbie to Qualtrics custom code with a request for advice ... even better if someone has a code snippet that is close to what I want ... I have a survey with several matrix single answer likert questions. Depending on a response to a question prior to the matrix question I would like to set the selected answers to the matrix question, ideally without having the survey participant see this being done or need to press the next button. The previous question is a "yes / no" question, so it's recode value for the answer isn't what I'm trying to use to set the matrix question answers. As far as I can tell the only way to do this in Qualtrics is to use JavaScript in the matrix questions. Question #1: Am I correct, or is there another way to get responses recorded for a question the survey participant does not see? I'd like to re-use the JavaScript code code for multiple matrix questions, so hard coding the choiceID, recodeValue, subid, etc. of the matrix questions isn't a good idea. Stu
Hello all, I've been trying to shade the "missing" and "multiple responses" columns in the matrix tables of a data entry form light grey in order to bring them to the attention of anyone entering data. Here is the java script code I have used to do so... var c= 1 //Enter the column position var n=3+c; jQuery("#"+this.questionId+" td.c"+n+" , th.c"+n+"").css("background","lightgrey"); what I cannot figure out is why on some of the matrix tables I've applied this to, the shading seems to apply almost randomly to other aspects of the question (headers of columns I have not specified, in particular). The questions will look perfect in the individual preview tabs, then end up incorrect on the full survey previews and via the anonymous distribution link. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Can anyone suggest what might be causing this problem? thank you!
I am using a code which emulates the next button upon clicking and selecting a choice in an MCQ question. The timing of the first click should be either similar or ahead of the page submission. However, sometimes I see the submission time is ahead of the first click by up to 100 milliseconds. Below is the code I used. Any thoughts to correct this, please. Under in-progress responses it lists the last question seen by the participant. For those who don't make it past the authenticator, their is usually a message their that says "authenticator" then a number. For example "authenticator18" or "authenticator21" Does anyone know what the number means on these? I will run different surveys with the same SSO authentication setup and get differing numbers.

I am building an online survey and need to find a way to allow for participants to leave the survey and return at a later time to finish. However, if someone returns to their unfinished survey, I need to prevent them from being able to go back and see their responses to the earlier portion of the survey. So essentially I need to hide the back button IF someone returns to complete a partial survey, but still record their responses from when they started the survey. Does anyone have ideas for how to pull this off? The survey will use Contact Authentication based off of a pin number.

Hello, I have a survey that includes multiple blocks (each including 50+ trials) for which I would like to collect RT data. Is it possible to turn this on as a feature? I have not been able to find javascript - if we must add JS to each unique item, we will (but I would really prefer not to do this item by item).

Currently, I have a separate Text question below to show the extra verbage to help the user determine which branch of the survey to select. I'm trying to build out a report that lists all of the answers from one response, and then lists all of the answers from the next response, etc. I can't find a way to tell the Reports field to go to the "next" response. For example, I have the following questions in a survey: 1. Favorite color? 2. Year you were born? 3. Favorite tree? How do I pick a question at random from a group of questions and then afterwards ask another question from the same group that excludes whichever questions was already asked?
I have a .csv file with 4 fields that I am trying to import into a contacts list. The fields are FirstName, LastName, Email, and Email2. When I browse and select the file, I can see the email2 field under "Verify Fields", but when I Add Contacts, only the first 3 fields are in the contact list. How can I import all 4 of these fields into a contact list? Thank you, Donna

Hello, I just exported some data from Qualtrics and it seems like there are a lot of unrecorded responses. Most of the survey is using sliders, and I recorded my own response just now, and it seems like when I don't actually move the slider, it doesn't record the response - is this the case? This does not make sense to me, as the first point of the slider (where it is located if you don't move it), is also a response option. Kind Regards Cecilie
I have a L&M block with 4 fields and 5 rows. These represent 5 products with 4 different attributes. They are defined in the customer’s inventory (aka embedded data fields). These attributes are named UA1, Make1, Manuf1, Cost1, Type1 for example. The second product is UA2, Make2, Manuf2, Cost2, Type2, etc....I have piped embedded data values into the cells to pre-populate the fields in the questions in the block. There are 5 questions of mixed types (Form, text, multi-select, etc). I then have a question prior to the block where I ask - Which products do you want to review/update? The customer can select from UA1-UA5 using a multi select box. I use the selected choices to loop and merge. In the L&M block, I set the default values to ${lm://Field/1}, ${lm://Field/2}... then the customer can change the value in the text box, multi-select, etc.. What I now want to do is take that new entry and put it back in the embedded data field that coincides with that entry. UA1 has a value
Hi, I want to run a two-part study on MTurk, in which participants "apply" in the first part and get a feedback (randomized: accepted vs. rejected) in the second part but still using their input. For example, in the "application outcome" a participant will read that he has been accepted because he ticked male in the first part, another one will be rejected because she ticked female in the first part. Right now, I plan to send invitations for the second part with emails, for which participants provide their address in their first part. I want the break between the two parts to be 3 days. My question: I know how to use piped text to use the "male"/"female" option to be in a descriptive text later in the same questionnaire. But how can make pull this into a second questionnaire, such that participant X reads that she was rejected in the second part because she said she is a woman in the first part? Thanks for any ideas! I read and understood the note that "A question must be submitted by the respondent using the Next Button before Piped Text will work," but can anyone suggest a way to display a question's selection in piped text "in page"? The scenario I have is that I am populating a question's response with Q_PopulateResponse, and then I want to make it clear in the next question's description text, as is depicted in this screenshot: ! Can anyone think of a workaround to do this? I don't want to force people to click a "Next" button, but I don't want to use Javascript to auto-advance the page, since that would prevent them from going back later in the survey to edit their answer ... I know that this may be a unique use case, but any advice you all have will be welcomed. Thanks!
I am using 4 matrix tables one after the other (with page breaks between them) in my survey. While the survey works perfectly well on my computer, trasistion from one matrix table to the other does not happen while responding to the survey on mobile. The next page containing the next matrix table comes, but the table is not visible. On this blank page only the 'next' and 'back' arrows are visible on the bottom. But when I refresh the page, the matrix table suddenly appears. I am worried that respondent to my survey may quit seeing a blank page.
I have added a “submit button” to the footer of the page using the source code below but I am having an issue adding a value for the button. I am curious if I am able to link this button to direct the user to a block I have created? Or can I use this button to submit the survey?
