Glitch manually programming a drill down

Thank you @TomG and @ahmedA. Your guidance sent me digging and I found a few tweaks to make my code work. Some playing around and changing the functions from on(‘change’,function() to on(‘click’,function() made a big difference. How do i randomize a subset of text in a question?

@TaylorO I think there is an easier solution for you. If you make the one question it’s own block the randomization can be much less laborious. It could even be within a larger block if a back button is important to you using advanced randomization. Create this one question with 6 questions - 5 text/graphic and then 1 text box question type Use the block editor to randomize questions 2-4 You can use Look & Feel to decrease the space between questions (see this post).

👻 Spooky Season | Badge of the Month | October 2023

Criminal Minds addict here. I was hoping that another season of Criminal Minds: Evolution would be released this year. But with the happenings in Hollywood that is highly unlikely. Thankful this thread got me to Google it and confirm there will be a 17th season at some point. I’m also not a huge fan of things horror or too thriller. I need a nice simple thriller that works your mind and not the jump scares. We often find a lot of weird not hugely popular movies on Hulu to satisfy that.For activities I am looking forward to a Frenchie meet up. The dogs will be dressed in costumes this month. If I’m not lazy my brown one will be dressed up like a baked potato and my pied (white with black spots) will be dressed up like a cow… honestly she looks like one already so we might just need to add a Eat More Chicken sign to her :)

Missing Data

Have you tried to look at individual records in Data & Analysis to see if any have data in them for that block? Have you run a filter on any of the questions in the block that is missing data to see if there is data in that module that isn’t downloading (again can be done in the data & analysis tab)? When you download are you asking it to recode missing values and is it recoding? If it’s blank from spot checking records and running the filter, I would double check your survey flow to be sure that the block is being shown. If it’s being shown and all questions are empty in Data & Analysis and your download, I would take the survey once yourself (using a live and not test link) and put data in that block. If the block doesn’t show, make sure you don’t have unpublished changes that might be the reason the block is getting skipped and therefore answers not recorded. After taking the survey, assuming the block shows and you entered data, check the data & analysis tab for you

@jrobertson are you asking for personalized links across all projects or within a project? This URL shows you how to use personalized links within a project: https://www.qualtrics.com/support/survey-platform/distributions-module/email-distribution/personal-links/ You can also find information from distributions in Directory: https://www.qualtrics.com/support/iq-directory/getting-started-iq-directory/first-distribution-xm-directory/step-2-distributing-to-contacts-in-xm-directory/ I often download my email send histories to see the personalized link by person and by distribution (I have some longitudinal studies where people receive monthly invitations and so the personalized link updates each month for the person). If you mean by project you can do a mass download instead of email by email by navigating within your project to Distributions - Emails - and adding a date range at the top of the emails summary and then clicking the text to the right that says “Download history”

Community Connect: Improving Response Rates | Live Webinar

While it didn’t help with increasing response rate I did enjoy the discussion around a “good” response rate (which most people don’t even know what that is) isn’t the end all be all. It reassured me in what I tell my internal clients. Response rate is just one measure of trustworthiness and you must also consider your margin of error and representativeness of respondents to the population. I did find the statistics Qualtrics threw out on average response rates jarring: (1) it felt really high and (2) the spread was HUGE. We leverage Qualtrics in a different way as many of our respondents don’t have, don’t use, or won’t share their emails with us and won’t engage with QR codes (issues of trust, being tracked, and being low income and having to use their limited data plans to answer our surveys).  Some questions I’d love to hear more about or see more research on - how do you determine the right incentive (vendor, price point, etc.) and ways to improve response rates among BIPOC specific

How to create uneven randomization allocation

Yes. You have a simple ratio so it isn’t too bad. You will create an embedded variable to assign your condition. If your conditions are A, B, C, D and you want the 2, 1, 1, 1 ratio then you simply put the A value in twice and the other conditions in once. Then have the program randomly draw just one. See screen cap:

Subscribe to Qualtrics Product UpdatesTutorial

Not a question, just really like the Subscribe feature. I think it’s so cool I have a place to save these innovative ideas that I might want to implement some day. As I subscribe to more threads I might have questions about if there are ways to organize these. I’m also a little worried if I will got notifications when I subscribe. I am looking for more of a bookmarking feature but I think the subscription feature works as a patch.

Code Debugging: fakeNext button not engaging

I’ve been doing some digging and playing around. The issue seems to be with the line of code that adds the button with the other buttons. If this button is just in the question text everything works great. When it gets put in the buttons container it becomes unclickable. I’ve tried copying my project and copying my question in case the original instance of the question was corrupted.

@MattiasM perhaps you want to try to start a new project. Add in a multiple choice question and see if the functionality appears for you there. @MattiasM under the multiple choice question Choices menu there should be blue text that says “Edit multiple”. You can click on that can copy and paste your values (make sure to select all of your rows in Excel for your copy and then the paste should bring over all 148 at once - I’d check the last value and recode options to be sure that none get cut off, I’m not sure if there are response option limits).

Rank order question - how to export data by ranking (not by things being ranked)?

@MikeW nothing that is very easy although there are doable (unpleasant options). Qualtrics will only pull in the attribute selected for First and Last choice using piped text:All other piped text options will either show you the attribute label without any logic of why it’s being inserted or the number chosen that goes with the label. To flip it so the variable is First, Second, Third… and the value is the attribute you would need to create branching logic for each variable and each possible rank. So in my example I had three choices and setting this up for the first attribute only to save into First, Second, or Third it would look like:This would need repeated for every variable as many times as variables you have (e.g. with 5 choices you will have 25 branches).

@Hannah_1102 I recommend looking through the provided documentation for Longitudinal Studies and treat the condition as an embedded variable.  You will need workflow to do this. If it isn’t working then I would contact Qualtrics Support (Get Technical Support) directly by phone or email. I doubt much can happen over the support chat or by community members to fix your problems with workflow. You may need an engineer to look into your account.

@extravagantsmile this is a great case for the Loop & Merge feature in Qualtrics.In a separate block ask how many children the respondent has. Then in it’s own block, put all of the questions you want to ask about the children (e.g. name, sex at birth, date of birth, etc.). Clicking on the block and not a question in the block you will see the menu to the left changes and give you an option for Loop and Merge. You will check “Loop based off a question”. Then choose your number of children question, Numeric Response and max loops = 5. In the Field 2 loop and merge I recommend adding “Child 1”, “Child 2”, “Child 3”, “Child 4”, and “Child 5” so the respondent can know what loop they are on. Here’s what your survey will look like:Block with the number of children question.Then your Loop & Merge block with details on those childrenThe first question is piped text from your loop and merge fields. Here’s what you Loop and Merge settings look like:

Emails based on randomization

@praveengeorgeix and @PaulSiegel I tested this and though the base idea is correct there is a flaw in that if a question is never displayed no data gets recorded for that question. You can still take the basics of what @praveengeorgeix describes and tweak it to set embedded data…Here’s the data with the two questions and display logic as described as above… you can see the values for Randomizer are blank. So there’s no data there to trigger the workflow logic.This is a closer look at the data for the first record in the table… I recommend deleting block 1 and 2 from the example above and instead use Embedded Data. So you go from thisto this…Note it is really important that these values be in separate Embedded Data elements and not listed in the same green box.That results in data that has assigned a randomized value in your embedded data field “Randomizer” (see the first four records with the embedded data fields versus the last two records using hidden questions).You can now use the e

Skip Logic Question

@BradleyHoush Survey Flow goes in the order that it see the elements. I’ve attached hopefully a clearer view for you how to set this up.Block Q1 and Q2 has no logic applied so everyone sees those two questions Branch if --- Q1 answers are either 3. or 4. that you described above If they fall into the branch then show them Q13 After they see Q13 terminate and end the survey Everyone else who doesn’t fall into the branch goes to Block Q3 - Q12 Then they get shown the last block that contains Q13 Lastly the survey is ended
