Survey Workflow, Export response to Excel use workflow task, missing derived fields, NPS group etc.

jQuery append image to end of text causes 'Aw, Snap!' STATUS_BREAKPOINT error if code is wrapped in Chrome

Survey Invite Email HTML Templates

Hi All, I’m after some advice.  The HTML email templates we use are and have been static in their code and design since their development back in 2018.  Since then our digital studio department have been disbanded and so there is no longer any support and guidance.  We’re not just talking the visual look and feel but the behind the scenes conditional styling that I have since discovered is in the template and until now not realised its importance to ensure the design looks ok across many email clients and devices. I’d be interested  to know what everyone else does.  How you manage your templates to ensure they remain in good working order and what software you use.  I’m a novice when it comes to HTML and CSS so I’m looking for something to deliver all this behind the scenes code with a polished design. Currently I’m using word, exporting the design to html then using a combination of free online html editors but this does not obviously cover off any conditional styling.  Currently I’m

Center aligning text when using an animation block (Confetti) or overlay in a question

Number Chart Widget (CX), can't replicate the change number during checks

Hi All,Regarding the Number Chart Widget and the ability to see a change value. I've read the support page countless times (https://www.qualtrics.com/support/vocalize/widgets/chart-widgets/number-chart-widget/) and tested and tested but I still can't replicate the change numbers it displays.If anyone else has had the same problem but managed to work out how it works, I'd be grateful for a reply with a few examples.My scenario is that I want to see YTD vs previous month, last 30 days vs month ago and last 14 days vs a week ago (ie they overlap by a week). When it says a week ago, is this 14 days previous week? is this like a shift back by 7 days or by a whole week starting on the Sunday so it might not be a whole week if you are half way through the week.I exported my responses and understand the value is about the number of responses but still couldn't replicate the change numbers.Many thanks in advanceRod Pestell

Help with a Conjoint-ish question survey setup

Create users via API including user meta data

Hi All,I have a excel master spreadsheet containing all user info and their meta data. To create new users (as in CX / vocalise dashboard users). We create a csv file with their name etc. and meta data eg. location, permissions etc which is then used via the auto enrolment function to add them to the correct groups / teams when they first login. This works fine but it would be good to remove this step and do this via API and include the metadata. Is this possible? I have read the Create User API documentation but it doesn't talk about metadata.ThanksRod Pestell

DOB using Select or select2, jump to default in long list when click on dropdown

Hi All,I need to build a date of birth question.  At first I tested out a calender datepickr option but found the years too fiddly for if you need to go back to 1940’s it’s going to involve alot (!) of clicking the down arrow on the datepickr.  So my next option was to use a dropdown list.  I found a handy matrix question from the Qualtrics template library with some handy code in it to control leap years etc. and so went about tidying it up and improving things. I now have something like this (see below pic). The problem is the years start at 1900.  Our guests age range is rather wide and so even though I could probably start it off at 1930, it still means a lot of years and therefore alot of scrolling. I thought I could set a default (eg. 1980) and when you click on the dropdown it would scroll to this so that it was in view.  However my solution so far is not working well as I have to open it, then close it and open it again to make it work.  If there a fix for this?  I’ve also trie

Webservice task JSON freetext no longer working

Hi All,Over the last year I've been setting up workflows using various tasks such as create and update ticket tasks aswell as webservice tasks that feedback any changes from said tickets back to the embedded data fields of the survey connected to the tickets. I started off with using key-value pairs and then managed to migrate to JSON freetext which meant it was a lot quicker to setup as I could use excel to create the JSON string.I recall Qualtrics support helped me understand and develop the free text format which has worked fine for some time. However as of now (Sept 2022) whenever I edit one of the JSON free text strings, it stops working and reports a specific error (see below), which I think is due to it not being parsed correctly now - it might be adding or leaving in a backslash where it shouldn't be. I have tried numerous techniques such as moving away from double quotes but still have the same problem. Below are a few screen shots.This webservice works in it's current for

Invoke a workflow / retake survey but don't change recorded date via API

HI All,After fixing a workflow (webservice issue) I now have hundreds of responses that would normally be processed at the time of the survey response being completed. Please could someone provide some guidance as to how I can invoke this survey workflow but without changing the recorded time as we use this to chart.I have ticked the 'responses updated via the Qualtrics API' which seems to work when I manually retake the respondents survey (but of course that route updates the recorded time).this is my workflow with the survey response setting showing I have a method to do API calls through an excel VBA script I've written but that was for Tickets so I can adapt it but I could do with some guidance on how best to invoke a change that the above task will then pickup and regard as an update.ThanksRod Pestell

JSON Webservice problem JRP_6 - resolved

Hi All,By way of writing this email I think I have resolved it. The engineers have now changed it so that you don't need to escape the double quotes in the JSON This was a standard webservice task from with a Survey Response workflow which gave this error. "name": "The task is configured incorrectly. Review the task’s configuration then try again.", "message": "{\\"meta\\":{\\"httpStatus\\":\\"400 - Bad Request\\",\\"error\\":{\\"errorMessage\\":\\"'embeddedData' must be a JSON object.\\",\\"errorCode\\":\\"JRP_6\\"},\\"requestId\\":\\"xxx\\"}}", "needRetry": falseThis is the flow where the code task works fine (but funnily enough the run history says the email tasks worked fine but I never get the email!! lol (anyway, that's not the issue here as such - it's the webservice task)This was my setupI tried the trick of changing the Body JSON label to Plain Text and than changing the Content-Type manually to application/json but that doesn't help - it reverts back to JSON it seems anyw

URL in a (eg text/graphic) widget that opens a new window

Hi All,Is there a way I can use the Link option in a text/graphic widget that when you click on the hyperlink it will open a new window? I'd like to reference some help documents for certain widgets and it would be nice to be able to provide a link which opens up a new window so that you don't navigate away from the page.If the hyperlink function doesn't work, is there another way to perhaps trick Qualtrics and give it some html code I know there was some way to put HTML code inside either the data settings fields or the translation part of the dashboard settings (eg different colours) [although I've never used that technique] and there is a way to do silent characters (ie empty titles) in widgets / metric titles so pehaps there is a way put HTML code in to create a custom link?Thanks in advanceRod Pestell

help to interpret JSON data privacy download (.gz / JSON ) file

Hi All,Just testing out the data privacy request process where it prepares a compressed .gz file that you have to download, then extract (using 7zip) and then you get the json file.The problem is what to do with the JSON file as it's a specific structure / schema that I can't work out. Can anyone help?I've got as far as trying to use Power Query in excel to convert it but I'm stuck at the point of drilling down / expanding the records into tables. The responses are for one person but across multiple surveys and so merging them into one columns won't work.To be honest I'm not that interested in the response but I'm more interested in just seeing at top level what surveys the person was found in but I guess it's all or nothing.Hope someone can help on this. Randomise / flip statement rows of a bipolar likert scale matrix question left->right/right->left

Hi AllI've setup a test survey as needed to work out how to setup a bipolar question that showed the statements in a random order AND randomly flipped the statements (whole or individual ones within the matrix) left to right and right to leftThe randomisation functionality doesn't seem to work as I thought it would. Guidance for testing Qualtrics Javascript in JSFiddle

Hi All,Please could someone point to me in the right direction as to how you can transplant relatively generic JS code from a Qualtrics envirnoment into something like JS Fiddle. JS Fiddle is alot easier to test out functionality I've found but so far my attempt to get it working in JSFiddle has proven difficult. My first step is to take a copy of the HTML element (I've tried copying the html form the element just under #documentI've ensured that JQuery is included in the setup of JSFiddle. My next step is I most likely need to transplant the Qualtrics specific functions to something more genericeg. Qualtrics.SurveyEngine.addOnReady(function(){What do I need to change to make the function run in JSFiddle? Scheduled Task For each loop workflow

Hi All,I need to loop through various responses and the ticket connected to the response (1 ticket per response and the ticket ID is included as an embedded field within the response) and change some data. I've thought of some ways to do this but am stuck on at different points of each of them...1) an update response API call via a survey response task. I don't know what is meant by this and how I invoke it. I'm guessing you have to apply a flag to all the responses you want to edit but then what do you do? Do you have to run an external PUT or POST API command that then makes a change to each response ID that I want changing or what? Or, do you just change one entry via API and it will process all responses altered - somehow??... I've drawn a blank on the support pages so hoping someone can help!2) By using a scheduled task within Qualtrics and a for each loop, where I import a data file via SFTP which has all the response IDs and ticket IDs and labels I want to change. Rename multiple TIckets

Hi All,What are the ways to amend the title of a ticket or subticket once it's created?I need to amend the title of various subtickets / tickets. They vary somewhat and need to be made consistent so that the filtering in my dashboards work as expected. I'm wondering how best I can do this. In the past I've setup a workflow action task where by if I change the status to temp then it runs a command on that ticket but this is only really for repeat tasks and meaning I'd have to change the code each time to change the title which is rather clunky and very time consuming.I was wondering if there is a way to use API with a CSV file or a temporary mail list with a script that would do a lookup in the mail list or CSV file where it looks up the TicketID and changes the name of the tickets. I'd export the ticket details (eg ID and name etc.) to a CSV file, make a new column with the new names using excel. The names differ alot but excel could do most of the work. Email validation process

Hi All,I'd like to setup an email validation process which sends an email to the respondents email account with a random code that they then enter in to verify their email address (and be sure that they've entered in the correct email address). Email task (ticket event) won't send multiple (test) emails unless email subject changed each time

Hi All,I've just setup a workflow using a ticket event (status change) with an email task on a survey. I'm testing the workflow using one ticket and just changing the status each time. However I found that an email would only be sent if after the first time of receiving the email, I change the subject text in the workflow (eg add one character). And then the next time, I'd have to change it again. This sounds bizarre!My normal work around for this is (eg. in automated survey email invites) I place a time stamp at the bottom of the email and I don't have to change the subject line, but in this case (for a ticket event email task) it seems that you have to change the subject line physically as not even placing a timestamp (eg. using: ${date://CurrentTime/MS}) works.What is more annoying is that there are no failures in the email task history so I'm always left wondering if it has worked or not.Can anyone advise on this as I need to keep the subject line static but want to be able to

Survey invite hard bounce, no reports and no CX dashboard reports to specific email addresses

Hi All,A strange one this... I'm not getting much feedback from either my IT support or Qualtrics at present so hoping someone here can help. Sometime between 25th and 26th August something has changed to my account or email address and I am no longer receiving survey email invites, distribution reports nor dashboard reports. I've since discovered another email address (a noreply email address from the same domain) which also won't receive email invites but will receive dashboard reports.Qualtrics support haven't come back with any mail / smtp mail error messages for the dashboards side yet but in the survey distribution history files the error for the two email addresses is something along the lines:x-postfix; connect to eu-smtp-inbound-2.mimecast.com[91.220.42.211]:25: no route to host --0e16710e5184.1661463798/smtp8.fra1.qemailserver.comIn the distribution file this is considered a hard bounce.Our domain as a whole (Bourne-Leisure.co.uk) seems to be fine as we've since sent off

Automation rule - add people to list if they opt out of any other list

Hi All,I'm trying to work out the best way to collate all opt outs from multiple mail lists into one list. I don't want to provide an opt out directory link on our surveys at present - we are happy with people opting out at survey level but internally we will opt them out of all surveys. To do this I need to regularly collate an up to date list of opt outs.I thought I might be able to do this using an enrolment rule but it only includes contact info and embedded data fields, not subscription status.Any ideas?ThanksRod Pestell

Count words in text box and prevent typing at max not working on Android

Hi All,I have developed some code which counts the words in a text box (as apposed to the count of characters). When the maximum number is reached (eg. 50) it will disable the next button and also disable any typing except for the delete key, copy / cut / paste operations, undo and the cursor keys. This works as expected in Windows 10 Chrome / Edge but not on an Android Chrome Browser. I've read a few articles online about android being a problem but not managed to find a solution. It's something to do with event.preventDefault(). Create an embedded field containing the emails of people in a Ticket Team group

Hi All,I would like to use the Email task to send an email to a group of people using the team group from within the ticketing / follow-up section.Currently in the email task recipient box you can add piped text but you can't directly refer to a Team so I was wondering if I could using a webservice or JS Code berforehand to acquire the list of email addresses in the group, put them in an embedded field so that I could then use it in the email task. it would be good enough to run at the time the response is created or at the time the ticket is generated.Any thoughts on this would be most helpful.

Replace Label in side by side question via JavaScript

Hi All,I need to replace the label 'Pub and Kitchen' with a value from an embedded field. It's in a side by side question. I'm getting really confused when writing the jQuery(....).find(...).replace command and so would be grateful for some points.Here is what the HTML looks likeSome questionsIn jQuery(#... does the # represent an id and a dot . represents a class element?so given the above HTML code, should I be able to do something like jQuery("#choice13QID180.LabelWrapper").replace("Pub and Kitchen",".....");or is it because it's a LabelWrapper or has span in front of the label I'm wanting to change does it mean I have to use a .find(...) command?Any guidance or other examples would be much appreciated when dealing with span'd things. Sub ticket notify owner / issuer when a reply occurs

Hi All,I've raise this in a couple of product ideas but nothing is happening. The subticket system is a great idea but there is no notification when either the owner or issuers replies in the comments box. Therefore, tickets can be left unprocessed for quite some time unless you are actively going through all your tickets every day!The closest I have got is to use the 'send email' but that may be a problem if you want to keep all the information in one place (data privacy issues) and also a normal emailing task won't allow the sending to team names. it wants actual email addresses.
