Today we’ll go over how to customize your Next/Back Buttons, how to translate library messages, and how to add a submit button to your survey.

FAQ for Submit Buttons

Why should I add a submit button to my survey?

By default, Next and Back buttons use arrows to indicate navigation. While these arrows are understood across languages, respondents might not realize they've reached the last page of the survey, leading them to unknowingly submit their responses. A clear "Submit" button solves this problem by signaling that they're completing the survey.

What's the best practice for Next/Back buttons?

Using arrows for Next/Back buttons is typically a best practice since they're universally understood across languages. However, the final page should use a "Submit" button for clarity.

Adding a Submit Button to Your Survey

How do I add a submit button to the end of my survey?

  1. Go to Survey Builder.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Add Block.
  3. Move the last question of your survey into the newly created block by either:
    • Clicking and dragging the question into the new block, OR
    • Clicking the three dots to the right of the question, selecting Move Question, then specifying the block and position, and clicking Confirm.

How do I change the button text to "Submit"?

  1. Select the block containing your final question.
  2. Look at the format options on the left-hand side.
  3. Click on Next/Previous Button Text.
  4. A popup will appear allowing you to change the button text for this block.

What if my survey only has English?

Simply click on the text box, type "Submit" and click Save. Make sure to publish your survey, and respondents will now see a Submit button when they reach the final question.

Translating the Submit Button

What if I have multiple languages in my survey?

Instead of using fixed text, you'll need to create a new message in the Message Library and translate it there.

How do I create a translatable Submit button message?

  1. In the Next/Previous Button Text popup, click the downward arrow.
  2. Select your library.
  3. Click New Message.
  4. Enter a description (e.g., "Submit Button").
  5. Type "Submit" in the Rich Content Editor.
  6. Click Save.

How do I translate the Submit button message?

  1. Click the main menu dropdown on the top left.
  2. Go to your Library.
  3. Find the message you just created.
  4. Click the three dots on the right and select Translate Message.
  5. You'll be taken to a translation tab where you can select your desired language in each dropdown.
  6. Either type out your translations directly OR click the progress circle to automatically use Google Translate.

How do I verify my translations are working?

Go back to Survey Builder and preview your survey to ensure the translation appears correctly before publishing.
