FAQ for Using Filters in the Data & Analysis Tab

ย

How do I get to the filtering tools?

  1. Click the Data & Analysis tab in the top-left of the interface.
  2. Click the Add Filter button to begin creating a filter.

What are the parts of a filter condition? A single condition has three parts:

  • Field: the item to filter on (survey metadata, a survey question, or Embedded Data).
  • Operator: determines how the field relates to the operand (available operators depend on the field type).
  • Operand (value): the specific value you want to isolate.

Can you give an example of a simple condition?

To filter respondents over 18:

  • Field: Age question
  • Operator: is not
  • Operand: under 18
Once set, responses will automatically update to match the filter.

How do I add additional conditions?

Click the plus (+) button to add another condition. This opens a prompt where you can continue building the filter and name and save it.

How do I create a filter with combined condition sets (any/all logic)?

  1. Click the down arrow beside Add Filter and choose Create a new filter (or click the plus when editing).
  2. In the prompt you can add condition sets and choose whether Any or All of the conditions must be met.
  3. You can also insert additional condition sets to combine different groups of criteria.

Can you show an example of a combined filter?

Example: To get respondents above age 18 who selected either 1 or 3 as their favorite number:

  • Condition set 1: Age > 18 (All of the following)
  • Insert a new condition set and select Any of the following: Favorite number is 1 OR Favorite number is 3
Name this filter (e.g., โ€œOver 18 + 1 & 3โ€) and click Apply and Save Filter. The filtered responses update immediately.

How do I remove a filter?

Click the X button shown next to the active filter to remove it from the view.

How do I access saved filters later?

Click the down arrow next to Add Filter and select a saved filter or open Manage Filters.

What can I do in Manage Filters?

  • View and apply saved filters.
  • Edit or duplicate a filter (click the arrow next to a saved filter to reveal options).
  • See the Filter ID and all condition details.
  • Delete a saved filter using the trash can icon.

How do condition sets look in practice?

You can combine sets to capture complex segments. Example shown in the video:

  • Condition set A (Any of): respondents aged 18โ€“24 who chose favorite number 1 or 2
  • Condition set B (Any of): respondents aged 55+ who chose favorite number 4 or 5

Anything else to know?

After creating or applying a filter, results update immediately so you can confirm the filter is working. Name filters clearly to make them easy to find and reuse.
