Building a Q-Sort in Qualtrics | XM Community

Hello all! I am about to start my dissertation and I am looking for some assistance in making a Q-Sort in Qualtrics. I wanted to inquire if anyone had a 'template' or 'code' already built that they would be willing to share, or if someone has experience with Q Methodology that would be willing to build the survey for me (payment can be negotiated). The Q-set would have around 40-60 items that would need to be sorted into about 5 categories (strongly agree to strongly disagree). The categories would need to be limited in the number of items that could be placed into it (e.g., the strongly agree category could only have 8 items). Thanks for your help! Warmly, Lena
@LenaS,

I've implemented Q-sort in Qualtrics. Feel free to contact me by private message.
Tom, how do you limit responses in a "Pick, Rank, Group" Question? I am doing a Sort with 14 Qs with a limit of 2 responses per box ("groups")

Thanks!

I don't use a PGR for Q-sort, but I think you could use custom validation.

https://community.qualtrics.com/XMcommunity/discussion/comment/37558#Comment_37558I don't see a 'drag and drop matrix' option. Are you coding that? There is a ranking option for matrix but no drag and drop. Thanks!

Is there an easy way to remove the outer boxes? Such as, the first column has 4 boxes, the second column 3 boxes, third column 2 boxes, etc....

https://community.qualtrics.com/XMcommunity/discussion/comment/46519#Comment_46519I don't understand the question. You might be interested in this Qualtrics Q-sort demo.

https://community.qualtrics.com/XMcommunity/discussion/comment/46549#Comment_46549Having individual boxes for each statement would require a completely different approach. I'm not sure how you would do it.
You could use custom code to rearrange the boxes horizontally, but it would be very difficult to fit and read with 9 groups of statements arranged that way.

Thank you so much Tom for sharing the demo. This is very helpful. Could I please ask how I can set it up like this? I have also sent you a private message for consulting. The way how Qualtrics can do for Q sorting is brilliant. I wonder if you could assist how I can set up in Qualtrics. Many thanks. Annie
