Carry Forward data without having the respondent seeing the question

I have a multiple choice question where the selected choices are carried over to a follow up single choice question (when more than one choice is selected in the first). When I do the analysis on the single choice question, the counts of single selections from the multiple choice question are not represented. Is there a way to pull the data of the single selected choice from the first question into the second question without the respondent having to see the second question?

    I'm adding a picture of what I'm talking about (the Data tab view). Here you see how when someone selects 2 options in the first question, they have to choose one in the second question. I need it to work so if someone only selects one item in the first question, that data is automatically carry forwarded to the second.
