Customizing question based on previous subject response? | XM Community

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a survey and am hoping that I might be able to find a way to have subjects provide text answers to a few questions (such as: "list the three people you are closest with"), and then use the answers they give in a later question to customize the question based on their earlier response (ex. "would you rather spend time with X or Y?" with X and Y being previously generated individuals), thus giving a tighter control over variability in the study.

Is this possible, and if so, any idea how to go about it? I've been looking around to see if there's any advice on doing this but have had trouble finding something that sounds similar. I'm thinking it might require Java or Python, neither of which I'm familiar with, so I'm hoping maybe it's a simple solution.

Any input would be appreciated!

Thanks
Use a text entry form question to collect the three names. Then pipe the answers from that question into your follow-up questions.
Thank you so much Tom!! That was a really simple solution. I appreciate your help greatly 🙂
