How can I change the size and layout of drag and drop boxes?

I'm trying to ensure the drag and drop boxes run horizontally across the screen rather than vertically (I have a question with 11 boxes into which a responder could drag and drop a statement). This will also mean I need to decrease the sizes of the drag and drop boxes and any help with this would also be appreciated. I'm a JavaScript novice and any help would be really appreciated!
