How can I highlight or mark (X) rows in a matrix question that are left empty - to show during valid

How can I highlight or mark (X) rows in a matrix question that don't have a response? On the validation screen, I'd like an X, a box, or a highlight feature for the items not answered in the battery (e.g., scaled battery)
