I have a technical question regarding custom JavaScript and Web Services in Qualtrics.
We know that a Web Service element in Survey Flow can make authenticated API calls using credentials stored securely in Qualtrics. However, as far as I understand, those Web Service calls are tied to Survey Flow execution and therefore normally require the respondent to leave/submit the current page.
Is there or will be any supported mechanism that allows custom JavaScript running inside an active survey question to trigger a server-side HTTP request through Qualtrics, using a credential stored in Qualtrics, and receive the response asynchronously without navigating away from the current page?
Our use case would be a real-time LLM chat:survey JavaScript → Qualtrics server-side request → LLM API → response back to the same survey page.
Importantly, we do not want the API credential to be exposed to the respondent's browser.
If such a mechanism exists, I would also be interested to know what authentication, rate-limiting and respondent/session-level controls are available to prevent arbitrary calls from the browser.
