Need custom javascript

Hi, Qualtrics Support said to ask this community for custom javascript that I can insert and it will do what I am asking.
The question is how to get the equivalent of "button counts," perhaps by having people press the button each time a target thoughts goes through their mind for a limited period (e.g., 3 minutes).

I would love to help, I've just joined, but am fairly skilled with javascript. The issue I have is Qualtrics doesn't enable custom code for free members so I can't properly see how anything works. The time limit will automatically start as soon as the question is loaded.
