For the Drag and Drop question type, it's straightforward how to randomize choices (the stuff on the left side that's being dragged), but I'm wondering if it's possible to randomize the boxes that the choices are dragged into. There is no option in the Qualtrics UI to do this by default.

Assuming it is not possible, best option is to show one of a set of variants that counterbalance for container order.

Hi there, if you use a Matrix question type and then change the Answer Type to Drag and Drop, you should be able to make use of "Scale Randomization" which should do what you are looking for.
If you are using a PGR question type, I found a thread that contains some JS that also seems to be working on my end to randomize the Group order.
