I’m creating a survey to be distributed to 30 different sites. I want each site to be able to benchmark their survey responses against all of the other sites. However, I don’t want to compare the sites against everything in aggregate-I want to compare the weighted average of each site.

Essentially, the  benchmark should be calculated like this (but with 30 sites)

Site 1 Site 2 Site  3 Site 4
4.2 3.5 4.8 2.7

(4.2+3.5+4.8+2.7)/4 =  3.8

The only way I can see to do this is to create a custom metric for each question which is going to be more time consuming than I’d like. Am I missing an  easier way to accomplish this?

Hey there! It looks like you're looking for the best way to benchmark individual sites against a weighted average of the whole group. The good news is that the platform is actually designed to handle this automatically using the "mean_of_means" metric. Instead of letting a site with a huge response count dominate the data, this method averages each survey's average response to keep things balanced. 📊

Since this is the standard functionality for benchmark metrics, I’d definitely recommend leaning on that built-in feature rather than trying to build out manual custom metrics for every single question and site. If you find that you need a very specific custom weighting that isn't supported by the default settings, it might be worth getting a second pair of eyes on your setup. You can head over to the Customer Success Hub at https://support-portal.qualtrics.com/ to connect with the team there; they're the experts when it comes to those more complex methodology shifts! 🚀

@Lpena  A mean of means is exactly what I’m looking for but I’ve never seen this in Qualtrics.  Can you point me to a support page that documents this?
