Now in Early Access: Moderated interviews with qualitative panels

Recruit the right people, talk to them live, and turn every conversation into insight, all in Qualtrics.

Moderated Interviews, Product Manager Gwyneth Gaubatz

Great qualitative research starts with the right participants. Too often, finding them means juggling a recruiting vendor, a scheduling tool, and a video platform, with plenty of copy-and-paste in between. Moderated interviews with qualitative panels brings that entire workflow into Qualtrics. We're inviting a select group of research teams with a moderated study on the calendar to try it first and help shape what we build next.

What it is

Recruit qualified participants through Qualtrics' network of panel providers. Then schedule and run live, one-on-one remote interviews without leaving the platform. It's built for in-depth interviews (IDIs), moderated usability testing, concept testing, and any study where you need a real-time conversation with exactly the right people.

  • Find the right people. Set targeting criteria, screen applicants, and invite qualified participants directly in Qualtrics.
  • Run sessions your way. Set your availability and add co-moderators to any session.
  • Skip the upload step. Every session is recorded automatically and saved to your Qualtrics project.
  • Get to insight faster. Use the audio & video editor to review recordings and transcripts, clip key moments, build highlight reels, and generate AI-powered summaries across interviews.

What you'll walk away with

  • Live, moderated interviews with qualified panelists, without managing a separate recruiting vendor
  • Recordings, transcripts, and AI-powered summaries, ready to analyze and share
  • A direct voice in the roadmap. Your feedback shapes how this feature evolves before general availability.

Is Early Access right for you?

You're a strong fit if you:

  • Have an XM for Market Research or Strategic Research license
  • Have IDIs or moderated usability testing planned and budgeted that you can field between 10/27/2026 to 11/17/2026
  • Use Qualtrics online panels today, or are ready to start
  • Can share feedback through a short survey and/or a live session with our product team

Time commitment: Plan for about 2–4 hours per study, plus time needed to conduct the interviews — similar to other qualitative studies. That covers setting up interviews, inviting panelists, and approving participants after each session. Tell us where it saves you time and where it could be even simpler.

Note: Early Access isn't currently available in Gov1 environments.

What it costs

Feature access is included at no additional cost during Early Access. Because you'll be talking with real, live panelists, you pay for panel recruitment and participant incentives as you would for any study. You can fund them with Edge Audiences subscription credits and incentive credits, or pay as you go by credit card, ACH, or invoice.
