Category calculation in dashboard

Hello, can someone share or point me to detailed category (dimension) calculations? I was searching here and on support pages, but I could not find details on that. I am looking for exact steps and type of rounding (if any) used when dashboard category (dimension) is calculated, so I can compare it to our methodology. Thank you.
