Data Source as Breakdown in a Heatmap | XM Community
Skip to main content

Hi everyone,
Is there a way to add data sources or existing comparisons as a breakdown in a heatmap, so they are displayed directly in comparison to the overall total?

My goal is not to view each data source as a separate comparison, but rather to show the general result with a breakdown by each data source.
For example: display the overall total with a breakdown by Data Source, and see that values as columns: "Data Source 1", "Data Source 2", and "Data Source 3".

Is it possible to configure it this way?

Thanks in advance!

Hello, YenMejia_Voce

Yes, it is possible to display the overall total and breakdowns by multiple data sources (e.g., Data Source 1, Data Source 2) within the same heatmap widget using Comparisons.

Implementation Steps

  1. Define Comparisons: In your dashboard settings, create a separate Comparison for each data source you want to see as a column. Apply the necessary filters (e.g., based on a metadata field like "Data Source") to each comparison.

  2. Add Overall Total: Set the Primary Data Source of the dashboard (or another Comparison) to include no filters to represent the full, overall total.

  3. Configure Widget: Within the heatmap widget's settings, use the "Add Comparison" feature to select the custom comparisons you created in Step 1.

Key Considerations

  • Display Mode: By default, comparisons often display the difference (delta) relative to the primary source. If you want to see the absolute scores for each data source, you must configure the widget's display mode to show base values.

  • Compatibility: The heatmap widget is fully compatible with this comparison feature.

  • Filtering: Ensure your comparisons are correctly mapped and filtered by relevant metadata or organizational hierarchy units to accurately segment the data.
