Does anyone have experience with how to show a trend over time with comparisons. We want to show how a location did the past few years in the same category.

You should be able to add multiple sources to the dashboard data and create a comparison for the said data source. Then, when you add those comparisons in your widgets like scorecards, you will be able to compare them with the current score.
I believe this is also compatible with engagement summary widget.

There are a few possibilities. What we tend to use is historical comparison in lines charts (or bars): https://www.qualtrics.com/support/vocalize/widgets/chart-widgets/line-and-bar-chart-widgets/#HistoricalComparison
Tables with “this year” and “previous year” (or month, quarter) columns is another common way to present trends.
