Course Evalution Email Distribution

I'm trying to use Qualtrics to send out our course evaluations for this spring. We did it very short notice in the fall and the reporting was a nightmare. This time around, we figured out we can use a drill down question type to choose the faculty member, course, and section.
What we're trying to do is limit the faculty members available in the first drop down based on the courses the students are enrolled in. We need the evals to appear anonymous, but we can use data in the background to generate the lists. My thought is that what we need is basically an invisible first dropdown that chooses the student's ID number, but I don't know how to accomplish that. We want to send out individualized email links.
Any help would be appreciated!

You could do it via embedded data if you are sending personal links for students. In your contact list, add an embedded data field for the course for each student. Then in your survey, you can build display logic based on that embedded data.
Not sure on how many courses that you have and therefore how complex that display logic might need to be! It might look like building a separate drilldown for each course (and you will build your display logic based on that).
We've also used this before for drop in workshops - we set display logic based on the category of workshop and then participants can only select the specific workshop (within the right category).
The other option would be to remove the faculty members from the drilldown and instead have them available in a multiple choice dropdown list. Then in your contact list, you can assign each faculty member as embedded data (something like "FM1", "FM2", "FM3", etc) and then configure your multiple choice options to display each of them where they are not blank. So if FM1 field is not blank, display the value of FM1 (which would be the faculty member's name). You will want to make sure you also collect the embedded data values for the respondent when they first commence the survey so you can then map this in reporting. Qualtrics will just give you "FM1" and you will need to map that back to the name in the FM1 field.
Hope this makes sense! We've tried both approaches - it really depends how complex your courses are.
