In the EmbeddedData documentation, it says that what we store in EmbeddedData might be visible to survey respondents (https://www.qualtrics.com/support/survey-platform/survey-module/survey-flow/standard-elements/embedded-data/).
If I am sending out anonymous survey links, will this still be the case? Is there any way to hide the embedded data from survey respondents within this workflow?

  1. create contacts in XM Directory, store embedded data in contacts

  2. send out anonymous/personalized links to each contact

  3. update responses with embedded data from the contact id

No, for the anonymous survey links that would not be the case.
The user needs to know what embedded data you have created to be able to see the value. Hence, that would not be the case within personal links as well that user can see the data.
If you still want to update the responses with the embedded data for each contact. You will have to use an authenticator within the survey flow.
