Do API exports behave differently if a survey is actively collecting data during edits?

Hey Gunjan!

I wanted to share some clarity on how API exports handle active surveys during edits. Basically, exports don't behave differently just because a survey is live while you're making changes. When you publish an edit, only new respondents see the update; anyone already in the middle of a session stays on the version they started with. 🛠️

If you're using the Update Response API, keep in mind it’s great for embedded data, but updating question data directly is a bit trickier and usually requires creating a new response and deleting the old one. Also, keep an eye on your exports—while embedded data updates in the database, things like individual response PDFs often stick to the originally recorded data. The export system also filters duplicates based on the creation date, not when you last modified it, so you shouldn't have to worry about double exports just because of an API tweak.

If you run into any specific technical hurdles or need someone to take a look at your account settings, it's a good idea to reach out to the team over at the Customer Success Hub. They can dig into the back-end details with you.
