Hello all,
I have two questions:
- I want to be able to link text in a survey so it will go straight to a person’s app on their phone. Is this possible through custom code?
- Basically I want to randomise my participants who start the survey of having an equal chance 25% (as there are 4 groups). However 2 gorups go straight to their study. 2 groups need to go through a device setup block first.
just wondering if you think ChatGPT (below) has the right idea for randomising groups based on what i want to do (well it was my original idea, but ai doesn’t always disagree with you, so just want to clarify if this would be the best way, as i’m worried if i set it up wrong now, i’ll pay for it later.
Thanks
Strategies to Manage Dropouts

Survey Flow
Consent Form Block
Demographic Questions Block
Initial Randomizer Block:
- Randomize participants into four groups (25% each):
- Group 1: Direct to Experiment Block 1
- Group 2: Direct to Experiment Block 2
- Group 3: Direct to Device Setup Block
- Group 4: Direct to Device Setup Block
Device Setup Block:- After completion, use a second randomizer to split participants into two groups (50% each):
- Group 3: Direct to Experiment Block 3
- Group 4: Direct to Experiment Block 4
This way, the initial randomization ensures that each participant has a 25% chance of being assigned to any of the four groups. For those who are assigned to the Device Setup Block (Groups 3 and 4), a second randomization ensures that they are evenly split between Experiment Block 3 and Experiment Block 4.
Note: Add progress indicators and reminders to encourage completion.

- Consent Form Block
- Demographic Questions Block
- Initial Randomizer Block:
- Group 1: Direct to Experiment Block 1
- Group 2: Direct to Experiment Block 2
- Group 3: Direct to Device Setup Block
- Group 4: Direct to Device Setup Block
- Device Setup Block:
- Second Randomizer Block (within Device Setup Block):
- 50% chance: Direct to Experiment Block 3
- 50% chance: Direct to Experiment Block 4
- Second Randomizer Block (within Device Setup Block):
This approach maintains the desired 25% chance for each experimental group while using a single Device Setup Block for simplicity.

Monitor and Follow-Up
- Track Completion Rates: Monitor which groups have higher dropout rates and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Follow-Up with Dropouts: If possible, follow up with participants who drop out to understand their reasons and improve the process.
This method ensures that each participant has an equal chance of being assigned to any of the four conditions from the beginning, while also managing the longer setup times for Groups 3 and 4.
