Hi everyone,

I have a single-answer multiple-choice question (QID98) asking: “Which weekend trip would you go on?”

The options are:

  • The weekend trip to Wyoming, for which you spent $300.

  • The weekend trip to Colorado, for which you spent $200.

I want a follow-up question to automatically display the destination and amount associated with the trip the respondent did not select.

For example:

  • If they select Wyoming, the follow-up should read: “How bad does it feel to lose the $200 you spent on the weekend trip to Colorado?”

  • If they select Colorado, it should read: “How bad does it feel to lose the $300 you spent on the weekend trip to Wyoming?”

I have this piped-text code for the unselected choice:
${q://QID98/ChoiceGroup/UnselectedChoices}

How can I insert the unselected trip’s destination and dollar amount separately into my custom wording, rather than inserting the entire answer choice? Can this be done using piped text alone, or would I need embedded data or branching logic?

Thank you!
