Hi, I have a related question on special links like emails. How do I add an email link so it opens to an email page for the respondent to send an email to -- is there a feature in the question editor?

Correct, you can find that in the Rich Text Editor of the question. Select the Link Type drop-down and change it to “Email”. See below.
