How to add meta data so it can be used as multi value in dashboard? | XM Community

How do you add meta data to a participant, so that it can be used as a multi value selection in a filter in a dashboard?

Example: I have some users that I want to mark as being part of an assessment in 2020, 2023 or 2024.  Each user can be in zero, one or multiple assessments.

I have tried to add the data as “2022, 2023” or even split it with semicolons, but even I then mark it in the dashboard setup as a Multi-Answer Text Set, then “2022, 2023” is still seen as ““2022, 2023” in the filter, instead of separate as “2022” & “2023”

Never mind - I found the delimiter splitter in the field selection in the dashboard setup, in case anyone else comes across this issue.

Were you able to set this up so that you could limit the users’ access to the dashboard data? For example, if a user’s metadata for AssessmentYear = 2020,2023, were you able to set up their access so they only saw data for 2020 and 2023 when they looked at their dashboard? I’m trying to set something similar up, but I’ve followed everything you have here and I cannot get it to work!

Hi,

The delimiter in user metadata is:

::

See https://www.qualtrics.com/support/vocalize/user-admin-cx/user-attributes-cx/#EditingMetadataValues for more information.

@vgayraud This solved my issue! I made sure :: was the delimiter for all users with that metadata, made sure the field was a multi-answer text set in the dashboard, and then set the dashboard data restrictions so that the dashboard field matches the user’s metadata field, and now it’s working! Thanks so much!
