How to get multiple choice questions with a semi colon delimiter in excel export of Qulatrics | XM Community

Hi All,

I have a multiple choice questions for e.g. which pet do you have

  1. Dog
  2. Cat
  3. Rat
  4. Bird

and user can select as many as option they want. However, in the excel export file of Qualtrics I want to have these option appear as semi-colon (‘;’) separated instead of comma separated (usual format). Could you please help if this is possible!

Instructions here on how to deal with incorrect delimiters: https://www.qualtrics.com/support/survey-platform/contacts/csv-upload-issues/#TroubleImportingFiles

You may try more option while  exporting data, in that you will find an option split multi-value fields into coloumn.

otherwise you can create workflow “building ETL workflow”

or you may try creating an embedded data with “;” seperated as well

hope any of the three option would resolve your problem.

There are no options to display data in semi-colon format for multi-type questions. We can manually format the data after downlading it according to the requirement.

To display data in multi-value fields for multi-response questions, please ensure that “split multi-value fields into columns” setting is checked while exporting data from data tab.

@Imran_Ansari could you please help me with the ‘ETL Workflow’ and embedded data field solution? Like how to create and it etc. Also, creating and embedded data field and then exporting the response won’t the format will be a bit distorted for multi-select-MCQ type question? For e.g. the export would look like cat;, dog;, rat;
