How to loop and merge from multiple choices of one question? | XM Community

I am working on a survey where I want to use loop and merge with randomization for a set of questions. However, I want the question used to loop and merge to route for 2/5 answer choices. Current functionality allows you to do selected/unselected for all choices or the selected/unselected for one choice, but I am wondering if there is a way to alter this. The loop and merge needs to implement randomization which can get messed up when altering survey flow. Any help would be appreciated!

On the question set up advanced randomization>random subset and then type in 2 (or however many you want to display) after pulling over all the answer options into the random subset box.

I failed to properly explain the set up, as it is a matrix question so I have attached an example question to better describe my struggle right now.

Q1- What color are your shoes

TYPE                    Black         White             Blue            Red      Yellow    COLOR

Sneakers

Flats

Boots

Heels

Specialized

So from a question set up like this, the respondent would ideally enter a loop & merge sequence only for shoe types they don’t own in both yellow and red. Which type would be determined by randomization, and the loop sequence would be capped at three. The issue I am running into is Qualtrics only allows you to select one color owned/not owned or all colors owned/not owned. I wanted to see if there was a way to set up a loop and merge from more than one of the answer choices on the same question.

Let me know if this makes sense, or if there is anything else I can add to better illustrate this.

Thank you!
