For a listing task in my survey, I would like to have people first generate an unlimited list of answers and then have them select a number of answers from that list by entering them in a new list (so in a separate question). I will only use the second, limited list in my analyses. Therefore, I was wondering if there is a way to have Qualtrics not save the first unlimited list, but only the second one?

I don’t think there’s a way to not save the first answer they give. But if you separate the first list into a separate question/text box than the 2nd list, you could just exclude the first question/list from analysis. For example, if you download all the responses from the Data and Analysis tab to analyze, you could just delete the column for the first question before analyzing it. Or you could just delete the widgets that display information on the first question in the results tab.
