The setting is the child will finish the survey first. In one question, they will be asked to leave their parents' email. Then a new survey that ask parents will be sent automatically to the "answer" of the question in children's survey.

step 6: Select the XM Directory Task.
step 7: Select the Add to XM directory option to save and update contact information.
Should I choose Distribute survey? Or do I need to do both?
+19Yes, you need to select Distribute Survey. You can still have the contact added to Directory as an option within that task if you need to keep track of them.
