Hello,

 

I need some help designing an id-check mini-survey for my wider project. I am unsure what template or question to work with.

 

BACKGROUND:

I am running a simple id check task for my survey. I have to run a n=500 in-person student survey and I want to avoid participants taking the questionnaire twice. 

The only piece of personal id I am allowed to collect is their student ID numbers.

Before they can complete the survey, I want to type in the student id number in my id check. If this is the first time, go ahead. If this is a repeat participant, the mini id-check survey would let me know. Extra points if it lets me know the id was first recorded.

 

Can I build such a thing with Qualtrics?

create a mailing list with all of the available students and their student ID as external data reference: 

Set up your survey flow as below: 

Define the options of the authenticator element e.g. like this: 

For the question block I just defined some text question like this: 

The authenticator will result in a check showing up: 

If the student ID is not available in the mailing list (as external data reference): 

If the student ID is contained: 

If the student ID is contained but the “check survey” was already completed:
