Is the lattitude and longitude data actually accurate? | XM Community

Hi,

I created a survey to gather feedback from some of our stores. We sent little cards with QR codes for customers to give feedback. Unfortunately, they were sent to the wrong stores and have been handed out.

I was going to use the Latitude and Longitude data to filter out the responses that are from locations we don’t want feedback from. Is this data perfectly accurate to the city level? I’m getting many responses from locations that didn’t receive any cards or places we don’t even have stores? I’m talking states away.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Here’s the info available in the support page: https://www.qualtrics.com/support/survey-platform/data-and-analysis-module/data/download-data/understanding-your-dataset/#RespondentInformation

LocationLatitude and LocationLongitude

If the respondent completed the survey using the Qualtrics Offline App on a GPS-enabled device, this data will be an accurate representation of the respondent’s location.

For all other respondents, the location is an approximation determined by comparing the participant’s IP address to a location database. Inside the United States, this data is typically accurate to the city level. Outside the United States, this data is typically only accurate to the country level.

This data will not be available if responses have been completely anonymized.

Qtip: Latitude and longitude data values are based on city/zip code and cannot be used to identify a specific location or individual.
