Matrix groups without clustering | XM Community
Skip to main content

Hi everyone, I am trying to create a matrix with 21 statements. Is it possible to group them into 3 groups in the results but randomize them in the survey takers’ view? So far I have only been able to randomize them within the groups and randomize the groups themselves.

@gon

Grouping statement will only help you with organizing for the survey takers, to group them in result, use Report tab or in Dashboard, use field-groups

About randomizing the choice

  1. Set up advance randomization will help you randomize the group
  1. Use this to randomize within the group

Thanks for the heads-up! So from what I just learned, I need to create field groups in a data mapper dataset or data model, but I don’t see the data option under the hamburger menu next to the XM logo as shown in this article. I am using the free trial now, is there another away to create a data mapper dataset or data model or even another way to use field groups? Also it seems like I need to create a data mapper dataset or data model base on existing data. Is it possible to do that in advance? I am very new to these features so please do correct me if I got anything wrong.

@gon It’s okay. Data mapper/modeler is the new revamp Dataset mapping feature, not available to everyone yet. I don’t know what’s the limit of a free version but if you have dashboard, you can click the setting gear icon, it will lead you to the data mapper.
Another alternative way is to use Report tab in the survey, it offer the classic visualization.
Since you’re using free version, at the end of the day, if none of these available to you. Be ready to roll up your sleeve, export the data out and make an excel chart.
